Pretty close to the number of SC players that played for the first time as a Trojan last Saturday (26).

We have a green team, but they looked good. Especially the DL, which was my primary concern.

If I'm a SC fan I'm cautiously optimistic and want to see how they do against a better team... similar to how I feel about LSU after the game against North Texas

You're right, Peej. I wish SC would step up and play big boy teams like North Texas every once in a while. Maybe we'll meet Towson in a BCS bowl.

you can't argue "oh look they played a shitty team" because all teams do it...you have to look at the team's history of playing good OoC opponents....LSU in just 2 years will have played Oregon, West Virginia, and Washington....that's pretty good

After just one week here's my way too early ranking:

1) Alabama
2) LSU
3) USC
4) Oregon
5) WVU
6) Ok State
7) FSU
8) Arkansas
9) Clemson
10) OU
11) tOSU
12) Tennessee
13) UGA
14) Michigan State
15) South Carolina
16) Kansas State
17) Nebraska
18) Va Tech
19) TCU
20) Michigan
21) Louisville
22) Wisconsin
23) Texas
24) Notre Dame
25) Florida

Note my list has Tenn higher than most (#12), drops South Carolina and UGA below most, drops Michigan to 20 and pulls tOSU up to 11

I think you should put Bama #1 and either LSU or USC #2 since Bama played at least a BCS opponent. Several teams looked great against dogshit opponents (I'm looking at you Oregon, WVU, Ok State, tOSU) and could change a bit in the future.

I think LSU looked like shite against North Texas.

And I have a feelin that if it were playing USC sat night they would lose to them If they played as bad as they did.

I agree. LSU has played a great OOC schedule lately. I was just responding to Dukke's ribbing that SC played a "powerhouse" in Hawaii.

Nah, LSU will be fine. They just played down to UNT's level. It happens.

Come on, USC plays one quality regular season game. Stanford looked like garbage and ND beat up on Navy. We'll see if either of those teams pan out, but at this point it's a one game season vs. Oregon.

You are saying I am wrong???? If you think they looked like the best team in the country or better than USC or Bama or even ND, you are as blind as a bat.

I have no problem with Michigan being #19. They were overrated at #8 (not sure how much though because Bama is a damn good team). I laugh at the people on here who STILL think Michigan is ranked too high. Let me ask you something. Would the score have been any different if Bama played another team in the teens- Virginia tech, Texas?

Thinking Michigan should drop more than 11 spots is SEC hackery at best. It's only LSU fans that are doing it too. They are trying their hardest to make Bama's win look less impressive.

To start, I never said LSU was the best team in the country. I would rank the top three just as they are.

Anyone who watched that game or the USC game really has no new information about either team. LSU has a great run game, Barkley is awesome. We all knew this already. I didn't see anything from either team that gave me concerns that I didn't already have.

Given this, anyone who says that "LSU played like shite" after watching them put up 41 points and 500 yards of offense in a game that they treated like a scrimmage is, well, Rant-astic.

Michigan will come back up the rankings if they deserve to - they have a great name program that carries weight with the voters.

Dropping teams for looking bad while losing SHOULD happen. Failure to do this means you are too busy rationalizing your own preseason rankings to re-evaluate based on the games played. And most of us have Bama #1 (haven't seen any here even ranking them #2), the typical charge against SEC fans including LSU is that we over-rate Alabama or our other SEC teams... not talk them down

I guess you and I didn't watch the same game. The pass protection was garbage and needs to be fixed. The pass play calling was very conservative. The d didn't play that well considering the opponent. The running game was great. But there are def signs that things need to be fixed for this team to contend for a top 3 spot.

It could have been better, but I really only saw 4-5 instances where Mett was under immediate pressure because someone missed an assignment.

I wouldn't exactly call that "garbage", but Maybe we use adjectives differently.

Maybe because they didn't need to throw at all?

The only real issues I saw were in the secondary, where they are replacing 3 NFL-caliber starters. But again, I didn't see an overall shitty game.

I think we watched the exact same game, but it sounds like your definition of "played like shite" means "we didn't hang 70 points on our mid-major-rent-win" like Okie State".

WOW.I would have took a 28-10 win over NT if we had looked better. Almost ALL teams improve the most between the 1st and 2nd game. I believe LSU will but For all the Miles talk saying we are gonna open up the offense seems like a lie to me.
