1. anyone saying mett didn't impress them after tonight is making premature judgements. He was about 3/4 on passes 15 yards or more.

I don't know why the hell les kept running 5 yard slants and 3 yard screens. Mett was 19-26 with 1 or 2 drops

2. I though the linebackers played great. muncie, debo and barrow all looked good to me. Feist also looked good in the middle when he spelled minter

3. Loston was obviously hurt since kickoff, dude was limping the whole 1st half and couldn't provide the proper help on the 1st TD. If he's not 100 % then martin needs to start vs UW, because they will chuck it

4. If hurst had any thoughts about bolting early, he needs to wake up now. He was getting destroyed. The mett grounding call and the play where he was injured both came from hurst's side.

5. Landry doesn't drop shite and OBJ will be as good as TM on PR

6. Not worried about reid getting burned twice, if anybody can look at their mistakes and recover, it's him

I don't think anyone is down on Mett. Yes, Hurst sucked tonight.

s'all I'm sayin'

He was also the ineligible downfield on the TD pass.

He was a damn turnstile all game.

But the injury hit was on a DB blitz. The RB is supposed to pick that up.

I agree, would like to add that la'el collins, is a beast on run blocking and blue has arrived....we looked very very good for the first game of the year

Playcall in will change as they get more comfortable with Metts ability.

Tonight was the first time in 4 years I wasn't afraid of us throwing the ball. Even after the int I didn't worry. Felt great to have that off my mind

There was no way Hurst could have made a play on the blitzing CB

Mett could only do so much because of the poor pass protection and the VERY vanilla play calling. Its the first game of the season, it was NT. Next week will look a lot better. People need to relax

No, the blitz was not his fault, but watch again...he sucked all night. The blitz is the least of my concerns with his performance. He actually blocked his guy on that particular play. He was not good.

Our offense plays to our strengths. Last year we threw it when necessary with the exception of 1/9.

We will throw it more next week an the plays will be more varied.

As for running the ball, still expect alot of it, specifically that inside toss.

Passing we will go down field more next week.

That was Williford. Though Hurst did suck.

that one was the qb's fault

dude came from the side where mettenberger could see him, and he didn't. a back maybe could have blocked him there but the qb needs to see that guy coming off the edge and get rid of the ball.

No it was hurst fault, he has to read that before the play....thats their job to read formations and communicate blitz pick ups

This. There was lots of talk about OBJ being the go to receiver in the offseason. Personally, I think Landry will be the go to receiver.

Did anybody notice Dworaczyk let two blitzers through the A gap and step out and double with the Tackle?
Absolutely horrendous recognition.

Mett showed some flashes of his talent. He was very accurate on most of his throws and he throws with confidence. But, our pass blocking wasn't very good and Mett holding on to the ball, staring down receivers, and not reading the D most of the game wasn't good either. It was his first start and I really do think he will get better and better though. He is obviously talented throwing the ball.
