I'm glad he's getting pissed, but acting surley on the radio aint getting the power turned on at my house any faster. Anyway, he mentioned a few interesting statistics and stories.

-Out of the hundred thousand or so houses without power, entergy only restored power to around ten thousand.

-Only one third of Jefferson Parish has power

-Either he or some councilman mentioned 40 power trucks waiting in a parking lot in Gretna. The trucks were waiting for 12 hours for their orders from entergy. The trucks waited so long that they ran out of gas. When their orders did arrive, the Gretna police department had to find gas for these trucks to get going.

My power came on literally 10 minutes after his rant on the radio. Coincidence, but still funny.

sounds like BS to me. You can idle a diesel engine for a long time.

They probably burned a lot of fuel getting to Gretna. These guys were from out of town apparently.

He's a blowhard reporting on rumors and angry constituent complaints. I hate politicians.

I've been hearing alot about these folks just sitting in parking lots for a very long time.

Entergy says they have to asses the situation and get their plans lined up.

I'm thinking it is just piss poor planning by Entergy like usual. I have friends that used to work for them that were quite confident that they didn't give a shite about keeping the grid in good shape. They knew that when hurricanes would come through they could deal with insurance and then get rate increases or whatever they needed.

My drunk ignorant rant is over. Take it for what it's worth.

I don't know, it seems like more could be done. Also a couple of dozen trucks were sent to BR, a city which mostly has power, meanwhile the parish with the most Entergy customers sits mostly in the dark.

the relief workers that are driving in are required by law to rest after a certain amount of driving time. So a lot of them drive down and cannot work right away. therefore they sit.

also, some sleep in their trucks. Others dont, but they park them all together. It could easily look like they are just sitting around, when indeed they are off of work.

All are working 16 hour shifts. I have a serviceman friend who has a tree on his house, no power and two small kids and a wife at home. He hasn't even seen them since Minday night because he's in Jefferson Parish fixing others power. I believe all need to realize these guys work hard and long for you while having to ignore their own personal circumstances.

Patience is a virtue.

I'm going tomorrow to cut the tree off his house.

From what I understand the rest requirement can be waived in emergency situations. I'm not sure if me sitting in a dark hot house, being able to smell the stench of my sweaty balls counts as an emergency though.

What has he been doing since Monday night?

They said all along that they weren't going to do much of anything until winds got below 35 and it seems that they didn't get going until yesterday afternoon.

I'm not trying to dog on these guys because I know they work long and hard. Just a little mgmt issue that I want to get answers about.

It probably can but it is a company policy. They don't want to fry their own guys. Buy a jug of High Karate and dump on your balls. Pleasant smelly balls.

My power just came on about 45 minutes ago. My problem is not with the crews out there working right now, the issue I have is that my power was out 2 days longer than than 2 streets over because of a pole holding a transformer was rot for months before this storm and Entergy was notified multiple times about it and did nothing. First gust of wind Tuesday night guess what happened to that pole.

Now Entergy will get to charge a "hurricane fee" so we can all pay extra for there lack of grid maintenance.
