Anybody in, or around Buras. What kind of damage to Buras? (flooding etc) When can I get back to Buras from Baton Rouge? I know it's not possible right now. Any news would help.

From what I hear, it could be weeks before they let anyone down there but that could change.

They are turning everyone away right now around Alliance refinery. They have not started letting people travel the levee through Myrtle Grove area also so no telling. There is still lots of flooding in Myrtle Grove and around that area.

I also heard from relatives there that there is no flooding in Buras/Venice inside the levees and just some wind damage.

from what i hear from friends in Venice there is no water but wind damage is close to Katrina levels. Power company said could be 4 months.

Damn, me and my paw in law were watching coverage of the storm on Wed and he was bitching that they weren't saying anything about Venice/Buras, just NOLA. Hate to see that but I figured they were getting it pretty bad

Joshuas Marina is outside the levee. Almost like it is in the gulf.

I will have to call my cousin who lives down there to see how it is. He rode it out on a barge in Venice. From my other relatives that live there and rode it out there they said it wasn't that bad but I haven't heard from everyone. Trailers aren't made to withstand hurricanes so not sure if this picture is a good representative on what happened down there.

I see people comparing it to Katrina. The devastation from Katrina was incredible down there. Not sure if that is a good comparison.

I realize that,I was good friends with the late Capt. john L. Taylor and spent quite a bit of time down there before and after Katrina.
