I recognize him. I was in the desert and drove right past him. His car was stalled in the middle of the road and he was laying in the ditch. weird.

It's been posted here before. Not sure if KR was around then though.

I can't disagree with him about the comparison to Glocks. A $500 Glock vs a $500 1911, there's no question which one is the better gun. It's the Glock.
1911's are my favorite handguns, but you do get what you pay for with them. I've had many malfunctions on cheap 1911's, but my higher end ones, (Kimber, Springfield TRP) have never malfunctioned. Just as reliable as a Glock. Only difference was they were about three times the price.

I myself don't want to carry a 2 lb+ 1911, but I still think it's the best range gun... PERIOD. It's the easiest to shoot, points naturally, and has the best trigger out there. But, I like polymer guns because they are practical and lightweight and serve a purpose.
I don't like how he just says "Glock" though. I think the M&P is head and shoulders above the Glock design. Yes, the Glock was the first to mass produce a polymer handgun (not the first to invent it, HK was).
Do some people dislike Glocks for other reasons than that they are not 1911s? Absolutely.
I think the two guns are very different. But if I want to carry a gun that is the same style as a Glock (polymer frame, loose fit), I will choose something that has a better grip angle, better trigger, better sights, slimmer grip, and better aesthetics. Just to name a few polymer guns that exceed the Glock in usefulness...
S&W Military and Police
Springfield Armory XD (and XDm)
Ruger SR series
Beretta PX4 Storm
HK USP (or Mark 23)
FNH series
FNX series
Kahr CW series
Kahr CM series
Kahr PM series
Walther P99
Walther PPQ
Just to name a few...

I hope KR wasn't around last time this was posted. It'll be a good thread if he wasn't.
