After watching the newest trailer before True Blood last night I wanted to share my excitement.

Things we know about Season 3 via clips and trailers as well as the Boardwalk Empire Wiki:
- Current information available states that the show will jump a year and a half from the end of the second season, beginning on New Year's Eve 1922. Because of developments in the previous season, Aleksa Palladino (Angela Darmody), Dabney Coleman (The Commodore), Michael Pitt (Jimmy Darmody) and Paz de la Huerta (Lucy Danziger) will not remain part of the main cast.
- The first 4 episodes are named (in order): "Resolution", "Spaghetti & Coffee", "Bone for Tuna", and "Blue Bell Boy".
- The newest main character is a gangster named Gyp (NOT CHIP) Rosetti that from all accounts is going to be a thorn in Nucky's side.
He'll be played by Bobby Cannavale (notably from Third Watch, Will & Grace, Nurse Jackie, Cold Case, and etc).
- Another casting tidbit is that Stephen Root (from True Blood, Justified, and Office Space stapler fame) has been cast as a character named Gaston Means who is "a forger, swindler and murder suspect who became a Special Investigator for the United States Department of Justice under Attorney General Harry Daugherty (Christopher McDonald)."
- I also noticed James Cromwell in one of the trailers but I'm guessing he'll just be moonlighting since he is now with Season 2 of American Horror Story.

I'm most anxious to see how the show carries on without Jimmy. I think if they are going to legitimately follow the rise of guys like Capone, Lansky, and Luciano they'll be in good shape. Especially with this new gangster around.
And given that Van Alden has landed smack dab in Chicago mob country, that's going to be fun to watch.
