wow..I never knew about his brother! thanks I appreciate that. BTW some of those eulogies are messing up. British Honduras (Belize) is not the same country as Honduras.

Doesnt he live in Monroe?

I did some plumbing a few years back and got a service call to his house. He lived in the better part of Monroe (Little Cuba) and had a very nice house. I think he was some kind of therapist/psycatrast. He was a really nice guy. We talked about his career at LSU and the short one for Philly. He said he went in for a couple of plays, got hit real hard, and decided the NFL wasn't for him. We watched the first 30 minutes of the LSU-Ole Miss game when I was there (that was Lee's freshman year). Fwiw, he was a JJ supporter. I think most of us were then though. RIP to a great man!

Correction... That was Ebert I was talking about, not Steve. I honestly thought Steve died about a year ago.

Hard to believe I never had a chance to meet Uncle Steve. I have met Uncle Ebert many times at my grandparents house in BR. Uncle Ebert needs to be in the LSU HOF.

LSU has sent us a message that his name was not submitted, this is bullshite BC we have sent letters as well as other football players. They said they might consider next year. I love my uncle Ebert with all my heart and it saddens me to say this but his Health is not good, and why can't LSU make an exception for a man that truly deserves this honor. More importantly he deserves to be able to personally be there for this. What good is it if he is not alive. I hate to say that but its true.I urge everyone to please contact LSU in hopes of getting EBERT VANBUREN INTO THE HALL OF FAME THIS YEAR!!!

Thank you. We are extremely grateful. My uncle Ebert has been reading this thread and he so proud of the wonderful things that are being said about his brother, steve.

I got a reply from Herb Vincent indicating his name may be submitted later this Fall, but it sounded like the admission process was lengthy. Best of luck.

LSU is taking nominations for HALL of Fame.
The family of Ebert VanBuren, brother of Steve, would really appreciate any support in getting him into the Hall of Fame. We have been trying for years, with no luck. He is getting older, his health is declineing, and he deserves to be honored. Please write or email on behalf of Ebert Van Buren.
Here is list of his accomplishments:
Ebert is 87 and we are running out of time.
It would be great if we could get this done this year 2013.
We will need some letters from past LSU players and phone calls.
Will you be willing to help?
Can you send letters and have some of your LSU play mates help?
