Who am I looking for again? King Ranch?

Shot an Eclipse II this weekend, best experience I have ever had with a pistol. Ever

I am looking at some of their carry options. I am thinking the 4in barrel, I cant see the same type of accuracy out of a 3in barrel, and it has to have more recoil..right?

had an ultra carry 2 that was a 3 inch....it was pretty accurate even at the outer reaches of "self defense" distances. That being said i now carry a sig sauer carry scorpion that is a 4.25 and i prefer it. its every bit as accurate (in my hands) as my other fullsize 1911's. as far as recoil goes the 3 inch was suprisingly tame. with a shorter barrel i think less powder is burned therefore compensating for the lack of length and subsequent weight. .45 gets such a stereotype of being really powerful with tons of felt recoil but with the metal frame of the 1911 and good wrist technique it should never be a problem.

Check out the Super Carry Pro. If you can handle one you will love the new rounded part of the grip. Fits my hand like a glove.

I know they have a few carry options, even some under 1k, hoping someone has some experience shooting them. But the trigger on that Eclipse was amazing, I would think all models were like that

That's another question, where do you find them locally? Usually I buy from Academy, but will I have to go online to find them? The one you linked was gorgeous, but a little out of my price range, I can justify the ones just under 1k I think, not much more

Did you shoot a 10mm Eclipse? Those are a bit snappier in a shorter barrel...

But the lightweight subcompact 1911s are good for CC because they are so thin. But, you need to remember your battery of arms and to flip off that thumb safety when you draw.

Happy shooting.

They are in Lewisville, TX but will ship to your FFL. The lady's name is Becky and she usually keeps a few Kimbers on hand.

I have the Kimber Pro Carry II. I gave about 860 after tax and everything. It also has the Meprolight Night Sites on it. Great gun. The trigger is awesome and its lighter than the Eclipse. Word of advice, get some Kimber Pro Tac Magazines or some Wilson Combat 47D magazines. The stock Kimber magazine the gun comes with leaves a lot to be desired. Also, get you a Wolff Recoil spring to replace the factory recoil spring and it will run like a champ. The factory spring is "ok" but for 6 bucks, you cant go wrong with the Wolff.

I'm just as accurate with a 3" barrel. I carry the ultra crimson II almost everyday

The aluminum bodies of the CC series still shoot well?

Nope, the .45, it didnt matter what I did, the rounds found their way to the target!

I dont have the CC permit yet, but I want to make sure I have a weapon that I can shoot awhile and comfortably before I sign up for classes

Mine is aluminum and it shoots really well, I do have an extensive pistol shooting background though. Get your hands on one and see how you like the aluminum frame
