The Red?!?
I tore up two transducers in two trips hitting stumps in Pool 5. If the only fishing hole I had was that sewer ditch I'd take up golfing. But I likes the Bend.

I live in Natchiitoches and fish both Toledo and the Red about 50 days per year each. As mentioned by another poster, Toledo is great Jan - May and then again Oct-Dec. Summer time is really tough unless you fish at night. The Red is a really good fishery, and Pool 3 is one of the better pools. It is not nearly as stumpy as Pool 5. I tend to fish the Red quite a bit from April-Nov and use it for quick trips during hunting season or when it is too windy to hit Toledo in the spring. Both bodies of water are very good and relatively easy to fish with Toledo getting the general nod for bigger fish. That said, I did catch several 5 fish 20# stringers in May on the Red. Cane River is pretty good in early spring and Sibley is better than you would expect, especially for numbers.

Well me and the wife are taking a trip up there the last week in September for our anniversary and I was trying to plan a guided fishing trip while we were up there. Anybody have any recommendations on a guide for either place?

I cannot believe it's low again. They must not have gotten the rain we have.

Last week of Sept Toledo should be pretty good. If you want a guide there, try Butch Covington at 337-526-1257 or Stephen Johnson at 409-670-5856. Both are top notch guides that offer both bass and white perch.

I have killed them there as well. I wish I didn't live so far away now. I have thought about buying a camp in that area.

Saline is just right up the road. My FIL kills them there.

When I eventually get a camp, I'm pretty sure it will be on Cane close to the new RR landing so I can fish both easily.

Jimbeaux, you live in Natchitoches area? Ever fish Black Lake?

My family has a camp there, but I haven't been to it in over 5 years. As a kid, we caught alot of bass there. It was one of the few places where bass seemed to school alot more than other places.

Anything good being caught there still?

LOVE that place. Have had more 20+ lb stringers there than any other lake. I am a one trick pony though. If it's not Feb-April, I'm lost as a goose.
