I actually agree with you. In reading the books, Cersei was the only character I pictured entirely different than the one I saw in the show. Cersei is supposed to be one of, if not the most, beautiful ones in the known world, but she has a nasty streak and great cunning. I just don't see t hat with Lena.
I'd say I picture several characters differently in the books than they're presented in the show:
Catelyn (she's supposed to be much hotter)
Lysa
Edmure
Ramsay
Roose
Daario
Stannis
Asha
Tyrion (although I picture his voice being identical for sure)
Mace Tyrell (hasn't been introduced yet, but they've cast the ugliest actor possible for him).
Brienne
Podrick
Jorah
Illyrio
Honestly the only actors I think are irreplaceably perfect are Ned, Varys, Arya, Tywin, and Jaime.

I could name a few who aren't like I pictured but Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon was the only one I really thought was badly miscast. There obviously aren't that many 6'6 actors running around but even old and fat and drunk RB should have been a more imposing figure. For fifteen years the Targ loyalists toed the line and hid their tapestries away out of fear of that great war hammer that Ned could scarcely lift. Addy's not a bad actor but the Hodors never saw the RB that we knew.

Yeah, Robert is a beast in the books. But I think Addy portrayed his personality very well, in that Robert was a drunk man whore, a bad father and husband, and a terrible king who basically let Jon Arryn run Westeros for him for 15 years.

Richard Madden is going to be in a Discovery Channel miniseries. I'm going to watch it.

Sorry for triple posting, but the ADWD Paperback is out today, and the TWoW chapter that GRRM included with it is Barristan I.

Booo. Was unrealistically hoping that it would be one we weren't expecting.

I thought it was going to be Damphair.

I was hoping for this as I am one of 3 aSoIaF fans that actually like where the Greyjoys are at right now in the story. They are being treated like non-factors and I seriously suspect that something huge is going to come out of that line.

The one we have already sene, where he marshalls out from behind the walls?

I'm not a Greyjoy fan but I definitely think that major things are going down, especially with Euron. Something big is going to happen with him and Aeron; I've always thought Aeron would use the Drowned God to conjure a Kraken and make some ships sink near the Westerlands or the Reach.

It's the plans for the battle chapter. Barristan II, which we have also heard about, is the battle itself where Victarion shows up and the Second Sons switch back.

I think Damphair will re-emerge somewhere in the North with Cleftjaw.

This is going to make me sound like an idiot but I just finished my 2nd reread of the series last night and I just realized, in this thread, that Damphair is Damp Hair.

Wow just wow, I don't mean to be rude...but isn't it literally explained out in his first chapter why he is named that?

I have no idea how I never made the connection before because it is explained in the book. I just always pronounced it as Damfair

me too. I'm glad I've finally finished all of the books so I can get into this thread. Where can I find the TWOW barristan POVs that have been released?

They actually made us like Stannis ahead of schedule in the show with season two. I didn't start liking him to the Wall in book 3.
