That would be cool if the dragons found their own riders.

Somewhere, I remember a Cersei chapter where some numbnut was nagging her about the crown's debt...the guy that coughed phlegm a lot...somewhere around the mention of money for ships...a big ship....and she was all like "frick em". Who was the creditor?

Anyone know what I'm talking about?...so long ago, my read was.

The Iron Bank, hence the guy that showed up at the wall with Theon and fake Arya and is funding Stannis.

I thought it was. Leaves lil doubt where Lil Lord Fauntleroy was coming up w gold other than Lannister. I don't think he was an agent for the IB - but he used their coin to foster fiscal chaos for sure.

Surely the IB has more in mind to recover the debt besides backing Stannis...

I was impressed w the reddit quote/ Blackfyre Varys thy. I always thought Martin used D&E to intro BR, but the whole rebellion/ Great Bastards arc sure seems to be intended for future reference to me.

In D&E, they were referred to as "pretenders" often. Mummer= actor = pretender, and dragon was synonymous with Targaryen. So it's pretty obvious this is another way to say "The Blackfyre's Targaryen"
Just more subtle support.

Seems to me dark flame means the same as black fire too, either multiple meanings or just one with a red herring.

So I think all or at least one of the dragons will die by the end of the story.

I'm sure I'm not the first to think this, but could any of the "missing" swords be hidden within the Iron Throne?

Hiding a needle in a stack of needles?

Multiple refs to Aerys (and others) constantly cutting themselves... Some blades must be pretty keen...?

Great idea.

Valyrian steel would stand out from regular steel swords?

I'm sure it would have to be rubbed with some shite to hide the ripples.

it's a darker gray than regular steel

the ripples come from the folds, not the steel type but Valyrian steel's color seems to make them easier to see

Ripples from folds are only coloring in finished blades- similar to Damascus steel. A simple rub (grease based) would hide it easily.

Oh - I meant rub as in compound... Not buff.

It's safe to assume many of the swords on the throne are of Valyrian steel since there are reportedly hundreds in current circulation.

However, many of the named swords mentioned missing went missing long after the Iron Throne was created.

Could be some hidden compartments within the throne.
