Another question I have is if there is any significance to all of the Stark children being wargs? It is said one man in a thousand is born a skinchanger and here we have five kids, maybe 6 as Sansa never got to display any abilities, that are in fact skinchangers.

I always put Bran in Mormont's raven. He makes the comment at one time that he had never said "Jon Snow" before.

I caught this too. I think this is a possibility for sure. I think by now, Bran is warg-ing into all kinds of ravens though.

The original Bloodraven was a real SOB, so it is hard to see him protecting Jon Snow. There were plenty of Targs that Bloodraven would have been totally content to kill. He was only half Targ anyway.

I've always wondered how that was myself.

and I do believe that Bloodraven used to warg into Mormonts Raven and now Bran does.

Hasn't the raven been around since before Mormont. I think he said that it belonged to the LC before him although I could be wrong.

However if thats true that could be Bloodraven's own version of keeping his vows and how he never truely left the Nights Watch.

First of all, I think the population in the world of ASOIAF is pretty low, so 1 in 1000 is rare. Also, I don't think many people who are born with wargism can harness the power. Most probably just think they have weird dreams. And 1 in 1000 of the 1 in 1000 with warg ability have Bran's ability. ((1/1000)/1)/1000 = .0000001

My take is that the Stark's are just very advanced wargs, which is seemingly rare.

Yeah, I don't think many believe that Tyrion did it. He has claimed he didn't do it a number of times. He talks about being a double kinslayer, but he means his 2 parents, not Joff.

Also, Littlefinger and Olenna Redwyne both have admitted some culpability.

Exactly there is even the passage where Tyrion is remembering when he told Jaime that he killed his son and said something along the lines of "that lie was just to cut him deeper".

As many POVs we have from Tyrion we would know if he did it.

Just another theory to spark some discussion.

Bloodraven wargs Mormont's raven to protect Jon Snow who is of Targaryen descent (R + L = J).

The raven yells fire multiple times when the wight attacks and flies to Jon's shoulder when the Night's Watch are choosing a new leader.

Bloodraven was loyal to the Targaryens and not the Blackfyres.

My only issue with this is that Bran would not know that fire kills wights.

My bad. I don't buy that Mormont's Raven is Bloodraven. It isn't a big enough role, unless we find out later that Mormont (or Aemon) was communicating with him or something. As of now, all we know of Mormont's raven is that he flies in and yells "corn". What purpose would this serve being Bloodraven?

Why wouldn't Bloodraven have told someone about Dragonglass years ago? There is just too much that doesn't add up in that scenario for me. If the Raven had all these powers or knowledge, why has it been so worthless?

A raven is still a raven when he is not being Warged into...

Every now and then he says things like "king" "fire" and "Jon Snow". Something is off about that Raven and I think it has to do with Bloodraven. Like I said I don't think he has truly left the Nights Watch. Hes been watching over them the whole time.

Can you recap the story of Bloodraven going to The Night's Watch? I seem to have forgotten it. If he is watching over them, why hasn't he helped them? Is he just watching them die? Or was he waiting for a worthy Lord Commander to start giving messages to?

Well he told Jon about the fire being able to kill wights.

How do we know he hasn't helped Mormont or at least tried to?

We don't really know. All we know is that Egg sent him to the wall with Maester Aemon and a short while later he became Lord Commander, then went missing.

Where was this revealed? FML if it is from The Mystery Night (which I just started). I really need to get on me re-reads.

I thought Jon figured this out by happenstance in that first confrontation in Mormont's room.

We don't. I am just assuming that the Raven hasn't done shite. Could be that Mormont was just incapable of "hearing".

He didn't get the idea from the raven but the raven was screaming fire at the time.

unwilling to listen would be my guess. I mean not many good LCs are going to take advice from a bird are they?

I don't remember exactly. I think it came from Measter Aemon though.

I wonder if, once this series is finished, Martin (if he's not dead) will delve into Benjen's adventures (in a short story or otherwise).
