I was thinking the same thing. Maybe she was old for her class? Maybe the laws are loosely enforced in CA? Who really knows here

I doubt it was 16, which would be my guess for how old she was. We know Slater was the oldest because he was the first to turn 16 and get his license (and car). So she wasn't an older girl who was held back or something like that.
