My experience consists of the Daisy pumper I harassed barn cats with as a kid. I'm told the high end ones now rival .22's.

I've got one of these: LINK Dime size group at 20 yards. I kill red headed bastards (woodpeckers) with mine since they love to peck on our cedar home. Need something with less range than a .22 so I opted to go with an air rifle.

Oh, you can go to yellowforum.com to learn about air rifles. Those guys over there are a bunch of geeks when it comes to air rifles.

I have a remington 1200 advantage. It is a sweet little gun that has the muzzle velocity of a 22 but the range isn't even close. Great gun for squirrels and small game but I have found that between 30 and 40 yards is it's effective range.

The Gamo's are freakin awesome. They work great for squirrels.

High powered spring piston airguns are loud, difficult to cock and load and have an unpleasant recoil. I prefer shooting a regular .22 with subsonic ammo.

ps: they are also heavy. my RWS model 52 .177 rated at 1200 fps easily weighs 8 lbs and is the heaviest gun I own

Huh?

All of the ones I've owned were quiet, very fast and easy to cock and load, and recoil simply doesn't exist.

I never had a problem with it as long as I didn't use a $20 walmart scope.

I think he's referring to a regular scope and an air rifle scope. The forward recoil of the spring piston air rifles destroy scopes that aren't designed for that type of recoil.

That is precisely what I'm referring to.

Saw a commercial for Benjamin air rifles on outdoor channel and the dude shot a hog with it. Put it down in its tracks, how much if that was movie magic or are they making them that powerful now a days?
