My F-I-L just told me that he is giving me a cow tag to be filled the week of Thanksgiving. I am fired up.

Went one time. It was awesome. Had a 360+ inch 6x6 wallow in a mudhole 50 yards from me. His shoulder was behind a tree limb the whole time. Ended up passing on a 4x4 the next day in the same hole because I was hoping the 6x6 would come back. Still regret it to this day.

My parents just bought a house in Angel Fire
and my brother and I are going to try to do this as well, if you go thru a guide service do you still have to draw a tag? Or do they take care of everything for you?

Imagine it would depend on the guide

I believe non residents can draw a tag but have to use a guide to hunt BLM land. May not be much cause I think they just point you where you need to go. Or a fully guided hunt the guide will provide a tag if hunting on private land.

My FIL knows a rancher that gets a bunch of tags. He has gone almost every year for the last 6 years and he has taken a cow every time. He hunts for the meat.

My brother just moved to Seattle and he has put in for resident tags so I may get to go after one up there.

There are Rocky Mtn and Roosevelt Elks in Washington.

I'm warning you. Elk hunting is highly addictive. I'm talking crack, meth, and heroin addictive. You're fricked.
