Going to BR cruising through in a bit, any good downtown Amite local restaurants?

not much they have a few spots...
La Carreta's
A really good place called
Muffaletta's
(but it's about 5 miles off the interstate)
30364 Hwy 16
Amite, LA 70422
Tel: (985) 747-0491
(and no beer)
adjacent to one of the truck stops
right up the road is a couple good places
Front Porch Restaurant
13012 Tangipahoa Avenue
Roseland
and right across the street is a place called
Mamma's Place

used to spend a lot of time a cabby's. don't know if it is still there.
independence used to have a good steakhouse--the caboose. i know there is one now in mccomb, ms, and the other one may have close.

Ended up going to that Boston place, had one sushi roll that was pretty good but the rest was way too bland. Needed more spice all around.
