Switch Mingo and Montgomery

In the Morning Advocate article LINK
Montgomery says he's more powerful and Mingo's faster. Wouldn't that tandem be more effective with the speed guy coming from the blind side and the power guy planted on the offense's right side?

Perhaps. But they're both speed guys.
And you might get a better mismatch with Mingo on the RT
And while you might not get as many sacks from that side, he could get his hands in the QBs face and force some poor throws, tip some balls etc.
I could see an argument for either arrangement

I'll trust our coaches on this one.

Usually the best/strongest O lineman is the blindside tackle. I think that fact alone lends credence to having your best/strongest DE on that same side. Also, as power said, they are both "speed" guys.
Eta: Mingo's agility lends itself better to being in the immediate throwing lane of the QB. Even if he never drops back a step or two to defend a dump pass to the TE/Slot/RB, the germ of the idea is in the QB's mind. And a moment's hesitation is more than enough for this defense to make a QB pay.

quote:This. Usually, teams put the quicker of the two tackles on the left (or whichever is the QBs blind side) for just that reason: to stop a speed rusher off the edge. With Mingo on the strong side, it creates more of a mismatch.

I'm sure there will be game/positional changes based on who the opponent is (who is on the O-line, who the QB is, etc.)
