| Will NBC lose rights to the next Olympics? (Posted on 8/7/12 at 1:41 pm)
with all the complaints about tape delays and everything, and how they edit the events to make them more suspenseful. i dont know if they have a long term contract, but is it possible that they are forced to give up the contract due to them sucking so much? can anyone outbid them?

I can understand tape delays but quote:

I can't stand this shite. Especially when their cuts make no damn sense if you're paying attention at all.

So much beach volleyball on NBC . I was happy for both American men to lose! NBC is making people root against Americans!

Why would u say that? Beach volleyball is held during the day, they want to show it at night... So if rio is close to our time zone and they are playing at 2 oclock nbc will still wait til 9 to air it

Don't count on it. They'll still shift all the important stuff to primetime. Unless technology advances so fast that online has taken precedence over broadcast TV by then, which is a possibility. At any rate, there are other outlets. I've watched most of the Olympics on the BBC and Canadian TV. Much better presentation than NBC, and almost all of it live.

I can tell you I get very excited to see semi-final races (swimming and track) in prime time

Billions. They won't let themselves get outbid. It makes up for all the money they lose by not having a deal with other major sports.

It will never happen, but ABC/ESPN would be the best option. The amount of channels they have plus ESPN3 would be ideal for live events all the time.

ESPN may generally suck at reporting on sports, but their live coverage of actual events is generally quite good. They would actually show all of this stuff live.

All of the big events will be at night so they'll be live. I mean, even in Beijing, they had the swimming and gymnastics in the morning China time so it could be live in the US on primetime. It just can't work out like that when it's in London (they're not going to have events at 2 in the morning in England). But it will be really nice in Rio.
