To all the new AR owners out there...

Please for the love of all things holy, before you spend $4000 on all kinds of lasers, sights, and tactical nonsense. Please learn to use your new weapon proficiently. As in be able to disassemble the bolt and properly clean it. Don't be the genius with 4 sights 3 lasers and 2 lights who has NO IDEA how to remove the bolt. You don't need 17 magazines either. Don't get me wrong it's good to have extra mags in case the zombie apocalypse starts. Dont get it twisted I love gadgets and all that fun stuff but please buy some ammo and learn to shoot first.

Because I just saw some idiot with an AR tht would make a Navy SEAL jealous damn near shoot his buddy because he had no clue what he was doing.

Out at a buddies property and a friend of his from school comes out with a sweet AR says he just got it and just decked it out with an acog and a laser light combo. Apparently this idiot has a round in the chamber and the weapon off safe,he is messing around one arming it, some how ends up hitting the trigger and the rifle goes off about 6 inches
from his buddy's thigh, and the round just misses his leg.
ETA:
After everyone calms down, we ask him why he didn't clear it out and make sure there is no round in the chamber and lock the bolt to the rear. His response is " I don't see a nut for a bolt".
I'm not saying don't have cool stuff, I'm saying have common sense and be careful,
from his buddy's thigh, and the round just misses his leg.

I agree with what your saying, but this sounds like general firearm safety.. not just tactical guns

Yeah he got the Crap knocked out of him, ad then a lesson in firearms handling and how to use and break down the weapon. It's Alot of people that are new to the firearm community that are so lax on firearm handling and safety. I dont mean to pick on AR guys, it's just lately I have seen so many new guys that are so wrapped up in their gadgets, that they forget it's not a toy. It's a tool that's purpose is to inflict serious harm.

I was thinking the same thing and that's probably how that would have come out. I am an absolute pure a-hole about gun safety and god help you if you do something as stupid as an accidental discharge. It's too serious to let slide and it's too damn scary not to react to it immediately.

Man me too I can't stand watching a TV show with the idiot that just killed an animal, pointing the gun toward the camera man or the guide. I will kick my kids arse if they handle a gun recklessly.
