ETA:

I'm a fairly tolerant guy but this shite is getting out of hand. Cam and Mitchell on modern family are great but they've spawned some very unnecessary gay copycats this fall.

Partners
The New Normal

And I saw a preview for another that I don't remember the name. Enough is enough :notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat:

You clearly have a problem with it if it bothers you this much

I just think its too much to have a flamboyantly gay character on every single sitcom. There have been some great gay characters on TV but not this many at one time it seems. I think we're hitting a saturation point where the networks see a working model with Cam and Mitchell and try to replicate that over and over like they do with everything else.

This isn't from a political or religious perspective; just from a pure entertainment value it's getting to be too much IMO.

oh clearly I must hate gay people just because I think the networks are being lazy and trying to vomit out Modern Family knockoffs. Clearly.

exactly

that is all it really is

just like all the sci-fi shows coming out after LOST , they are all trying to copy each other

don't worry, all of these new shows have like a 2% chance of surviving more than a few episodes

...the horror (in my Brando voice).

What percentage of characters on TV are gay? I guess theoretically it should be around 12%?

do you mean 12% to coincide with the actual percentage of the US population? if so it should be 3 or 4%.

The New Normal is made by the creator of Glee.

Anybody surprised?

I'm with you. I don't have an issue with gay characters on TV, but I do have a problem with Hollywood's obsession with force feeding me unnecessary flamboyantly gay characters just to push their agenda.

Same thing as all the vampire/werewolf/whatever shows that popped up at the same time. Seemed like every network had their own spinoff of twilight at one point.

It bothers me that people really think its normal. That it's natural. That it's ok. It's not.

If it were then they could reproduce without the help of someone else (science/women)

They force feed you what is working on TV at that time. If Glee and Modern Family brought in ratings like Work It and I Hate My Teenage Daughter they wouldn't be copying the formula just to get gay characters on air.

Define normal.
It is natural.
Why isn't it okay?

Also, I agree that it's a lazy shortcut on hollywood's part.
