Which league are you talking about? A lot of different state tournaments and "world series" so just curious what league this is.

No. Little League isn't available in this area. I've seen them play and they've got some good players.

Where do they play? Osterland, East Ouachita, West Ouachita, Biedenharn, and Saul Adler are Dixie. Is there another set of fields I don't know about? There used to be a little league in WM behind Ridgedale, but that was bought by different travel ball teams.

Back in the day (I'm 34) Monroe City 11-12 year olds was Little League. Played at Saul Adler and Forsythe. East Ouachita was Dixie. Not sure if it's still like that or not..

There are so many different World Series now you don't know who is really good and who is just decent. I know West Monroe was just OK in 5A baseball the past few years. How does this West Monroe team stack up to a 14 year old Houston Banditos Black 14 year old team? Or an Atlanta East Cobb team? I know by the end of the summer any 14 year old team should be playing high school dimensions in 60/90. Does Dixie play 60/90?

This is a Monroe team, not WM. The Louisiana Thunder 13 year old team, a travel ball team in the area, beat Houston Banditos Black several times the last few years. Never played East Cobb.

none of the good teams around here play Dixie. Has this team played the top teams in USSSA? If so, how have they done?

That Thunder team played the Monroe Dixie All Stars last year and beat them 36-2 in 2 games, pitching a different kid every inning and not sending more than 7 to the plate per inning. Both teams were 12 at the time. The kids on this 14 year old team played a 13 year old West Ridge team with 5 Thunder players in junior high league. The Lee team won 2 out of 3. All 3 games were 2-3 runs. Not sure how many kids are on this team that weren't on that Lee team, but I'm sure there are some.

Do they have a league or do they pull a team together and pay the league money and then take this "select" dixie youth team to all stars. We played in the 14 yr old DY state championships a few years ago against a Monroe team and if I understood correctly this was how the team was comprised with most of the kids missing the cutoff to be too old by a month or so. The Monroe team had kids from several different schools from all around the area with most of the boys about to enter their soph season at their particular high school. Not to take anything away from the kids as they were a very good ball team but they definitely were not a typical DY All Star team.

The road to the real world series starts tonight in Alexandria at the Louisiana Little league state Championship. Lafayette Little league vs. South Lake Charles for the Louisiana championship at 6. Mr. bitter has the radio call on espn 1420. Winner goes on to the Southwestern regional in Waco. SLC has to beat LLL twice to advance (tomorrow is the if-necsecary game) here is the link to listen live. LINK
EDIT: didn't see the other thread on this sorry to hijack thread

I strongly disagree. LL does not do a good job of teaching boys how to play real baseball. No leadoffs at 12? Come on man. If you play league ball the best association with good rules for players of all ages would be Cal Ripken.

Of course the best baseball is played by USSSA, but Cal Ripken is a great association for players of all levels.
