Funk is still around. Disco has been dead 30 years.

Disco.

Contrary to one's initial reaction, da hoes were more plentiful, beautiful, and slightly cleaner.

George Clinton is a huge reason why the Chili Peppers are so big. He is such a driving force for the continuation of Funk music.

Fun

For as bad a rap as disco seems to get historically, it sure ended up being awfully influential.

Disco music is essentially the precursor to modern day EDM. And it was a huge influence in early hip hop (See: Rapper's Delight). And what is LCD Soundsystem if not disco music?

And I'm certain that disco had the better party scene.

Disco is still around.

Maybe it doesn't go by the same name, but the characteristics that were unique to disco music at the time have survived and advanced.

I agree about the scene being more fun but the OP is vague. If we are talking scenes/party atmospheres then disco is better. If we are talking about making music with no soul then disco wins as well. Yes, they used electronic elements to create their songs but I doubt James Murphy is digging through "Disco Duck" and "The Hustle" records.

There's probably some truth to that but the funk has held up so much better.

Lot of club music is just a rehashed, more contemporary version of disco and is equally shitty.

It isn't vague. Go with the one you like better.

I mentioned the disco party scene because people were being awfully harsh, and so I thought I would point out some of the good things about disco.

Funk because of the tough bass lines. Cold blooded beats, man.
