2nd longest tenure in LSU history and I for one love the guy. I can get pissed at him too, but for the most part, he has represented the school, the fans, and the state with class and humor. We will all be telling stories about the "Miles Era" one day and laugh at his goofy arse.

I didn't realize it was 2nd longest tenure. That's something. I'm hoping till 2020 or so, might make Cholly Mac's tenure.

Anytime I get mad at Miles I think Curley Hallman and remember those dark times.

Miles has kept LSU at the pinnacle of college football since he's been here. We're an elite, national brand during one of the most exciting times in college football. We've got a celebrity coach who's players love him, and his recruiting classes just stay stacked. Hate some of the decisions he's made, but he's easily one of the top head coaches in the country. I just don't get fans that have beef with him. I know that there's only ever been one guy whose opinion I valued about football who didn't like Miles...and we fought like cats and dogs about it If you don't like Miles, you will never be satisfied with a head coach.

I hope I feel like that after this season ends.

Well said Fury. Saban is perhaps a better coach, but Les IMO is by far the better man.

This year his goofy arse is about to move ahead of the pack of 4 coaches with 2 SEC titles.
He will then be the greatest in LSU FB history until somebody comes along that can unseat him.

Well said. When you consider where our program was as we entered the 2000s, seeing Les doing national spots for stuff like Sportscenter and EA Sports is pretty incredible. Having a personality like him representing our university and winning football games is awesome.

I know, it's very exciting and I love the fact that he possibly spurned Michigan twice to stay on the Bayou.

More than just glad he's still at LSU. After 08 and 09 I was worried, but since Chavis was hired and seeing our recruiting not miss beat, I know Miles is the best man for LSU as long as he'll stay.

His quirky persona and attitude fit LSU and its fanbase more than I think most of the country realizes. IDC if anyone in the country likes him or not; the man just wins and gives everyone a good laugh here or there, plus his players love him. Exactly what more could we ask for since it seems as though we are poised to make another title run this year.

Specifically the five interception game against Auburn. I get over Miles very quickly when I remember those dark days.

At the age of 64, I can remember back to Paul Deitzel and Charlie Mac. Mac was a "bum, a jerk, a nitwit," etc. who couldn't coach and couldn't win the big ones; yet we always managed to fight like, well, tigers even though Bear Bryant owned the SEC. Bo Rein was the best coach who never coached, tragically. Stovall comes along with moderate success, and Arnsparger looked like he would finally puts things in play, but he leaves early for the Florida AD job. AND THEN, we sit through Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo. Oh the horror of it!!! I have said this before. The only good thing about those guys was that you could park closer to the stadium because nobody went to the games.

Next comes Saban, and prosperity ensues. Bigger dreams of greatness, arrogance, and hubris lead him to the Dolphins where he realizes that motivating broke nineteen year olds under your control is harder to motivate than rich twenty-five year old multi-millionaires.

Miles comes in, and I didn't know much about him, but I had my doubts. I am glad he's here. And to some of our fan base and outside critics, I guess the only reason he is successful to this day is that he continues to win after eight years with Saban's players. I hope he stays because he seems to be adept at spotting and picking talent. This is as true about assistant coaches as it is about players. Everybody seems to love him. I can't wait to meet Alabama again.

And those guys should be graduating soon. 8 years in the program is enough.

The only time I could remember being really down on Miles was the UT game when thought we lost it. Just seems like since that moment he has been the best coach LSU has ever had really.

I have nothing but respect for Miles, his loyalty to the program, and the direction he is taking us in. I would be more than happy if we have a Bobby Bowden on our hands that is here for 30+ years.
