You should get more responses at some point. I use a "method" not a recipe , from Tony Chachere . I place equal parts of water and white vinegar Ina pot, sufficient to just cover the shrimp,( I eye ball the measurement), and season to taste with shrimp boil and a little extra garlic. Bring to a boil, add the shrimp and stir. When they are pink, in a minute or two, I cut the fire and add a little ice. I'll soak them 5 to 10 minutes, until they taste right. Just don't over cook.

Being an Ohioan, the only time I ever had really good seafood is on vacation on the coast.

It sucks, cause I love me some seafood!

Alton Brown has a method that I'm gonna try instead of boiling. He puts the shrimp (shells on) in a sugar/salt water brine for 1/2 hour in the fridge. Then takes them out (still with shell on) and puts them on a baking pan (use foil so they don't stick...single layer.. and broils them in the oven on high heat for 1 minute. Turn them over and broil for 1 more minute.

They come out with less shrinkage than boiling and they don't curl up so much. I could see the difference on TV.
