Lag switch that causes opponent to lose XBL connection?

I was playing a guy on NCAA today who was like 14-0 (should've known better). Score was tied 7-7, he's in the red zone right before half. I pick 6 him and he pauses the game.
When he has about 5 seconds left on his pause timer, my screen freezes, "connection to your opponent has been lost" pops up, and for some reason I completely lose my XBL connection. I dashboard, check connection, and everythings fine.
Is this shite for real or did my Internet just bug out?
ETA: I received the loss and a DNF.

I have a pretty good Internet connection, it very rarely gives me any trouble. Seems fishy that it happened right at the turning point of the game when he paused it.

Probably the NCAA version of a dashboard. They had this last year, JAE would be more useful than me on this subject.

I'll never understand how you can play CoD online and it be smooth as hell and yet when you play NCAA it lags and you're like a second behind

Lag switches have been around since Halo 2. I hated those assholes that used them.

It is the greatest thing ever on COD when someone is lag switching and dominating the lobby but they overuse it and cause a host migration and proceed to get their shite pushed in.

Nah it's in tact.
That by itself might be the worst thing ever, but if they overuse the lagswitch and cause a host migration and then get rocked hard by that lobby, it becomes a very funny thing.
