This game has always pulled decent numbers for CBS ensuring LSU of almost an exclusive national exposure on Black Friday.

There is nothing more appealing about playing A&M on the same day.

Assuredly, the game will get moved to the middle of the season, sometimes on weeks with more appealing matchups and it will sometimes be played in Tiger Stadium at 11:30 in the morning and people on this board will be moaning that life isn't fair etc.

LEAVE THAT GAME WHERE IT IS.

If there is buzz between the fanbases that there are some ashes of a rivalry here, then use to establish the A&M game as the FIRST game of the year. Every year. Lock it in as a night game when most of the other matchups are very, very lame.

That way, LSU will have TWO games every year where it is THE BIGGEST GAME of the weekend and can garner an exclusive weekend.

It will also give LSU & Coach Miles needed focus to have this game open up the season instead of the usual North Texas shite.

Also by putting this game in the front of the season it will clear up some of that rugged conference garbage. Better to open with A&M than play them between Auburn and Florida. You want to play Towson in between those teams in October, not in Sept.

Seriously, this is an opportunity. Please, USE IT WISELY.

You're in the minority, definitely the grand majority would rather play aTm over Arkansas last game of year. Arkansas just isn't a rival like they are.

That would take LSU out of the running for games at Jerry World or the Chik fil a opener, right. If so make it game 2 or something.

I will go with aTm!!!

Arkie was a one-sided rivalry.

LSU was a big rival for Arkie, but LSU just never viewed Arkie as a rival and generally had a lackluster performance.

LSU always seemed more focused on Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florda.

This is an important point. The first game of the season has often been special over the recent past. I like to see a directional school tentatively scheduled. Those are easy to replace for games like the Cowboy or Kickoff classics.

Those of us in N/E Texas don't agree--we hear and live with that WPS! (whoo pig sooee) crap every day adinfanitum. Beating Arkie leaves us sane for the next several months afterwards.

I hear you guys on the rivalry.

But what about the argument of locking in two national games? Of establish A&M as the opening weekend games.

I've only seen us play in two kickoff classics. And I haven;t heard that others are scheduled.

Plus, I think it will be harder to schedule these games with the extra conference game and playoffs.

BUT, A&M could be a kickoff classic. Could happen at Jerry World. Etc.

It's been a pretty competitive rivalry. The past 10 years LSU has the series 6-4. That game has been a season maker or breaker for us since 2002.

Don't agree. Arkansas always seems to be in disarray in the beginning of the season and they usually put it together toward the end. If much rather play them earlier.
And yeah, as far as the rivaly goes, I think everyone always felt it was too forced. aTm already feels more natural and we haven't even played the game yet.

i've just never considered the Hogs as a rival. no disrespect to my pig bros, but the whole "rivalry' bit with them was manufactured from the get.

+ that trophy is just plain hideous.

Great..as a season ticket holder I don't care for ATL/Jerry World opener/money grab games at the expense of a good BCS home/home series.
You realize the Jerry World Org. game, gave us a boatload of CRAP tickets at DOUBLE the normal cost !
IF the host stadium would at least give us a split of sideline tickets, I could maybe stomach such a games, every few years OK...but that is NOT the case in Dallas and it leaves us with a CRAP home schedule

If the Arkansas game is ever at 11:30 in Tiger Stadium, then one of us has really dropped off the radar. We don't even play Ole Miss at 11:30. That has been reserved for MSU, UK or Vandy, and mainly just MSU.

If aTm has hired the right coach, then they could easily catch Arkansas on the field, and therefore be a better end of the year opponent. If not, well...

The bottom line is that aTm has to step up their game for this to be an improvement. The Arkansas game has meant a lot to both teams lately, but for many of their early years in the SEC, the game was not very good or very important.

???? Hate playing after Thanksgiving? What do you mean.... No SEC championship game and no bowls?

If you mean regular season join the Big 10.

If you mean the day after Thanksgiving... I understand. I prefer Saturday college football myself.

I like the idea of playing the Aggies. It's going to be the new rivalry.
