Hulu and Netflix question.

I'm considering abandoning cable and going with Hulu plus and Netflix together since right now we only watch shows on Food Network, Amc and ABC.
My question is when I search the content page of Hulu plus and Netflix I'm not finding any of the shows I watch(Dexter, Breaking Bad, Diners drive ins and dives, etc etc) Is there more material available once I pay for the subscription or is what I see on the content page what I get? Is there a better option I'm not considering? I pay $35 a month in cable right now for the very very basic package.

Dexter's not on either service. Diners Drive Ins and Dives, neither.
Breaking Bad is on Netflix for sure, and also on Hulu Plus, if I recall correctly, but you DO understand that you won't be getting the latest season?
HuluPlus typically carries the latest seasons of NBC... not CBS or Showtime or HBO.
Why cling to Dexter, anyway? There's so much good entertainment on Netflix and Hulu that I've never missed anything.

If you have to have the others, just stream them or download the torrents

But I doubt it's current. They probably won't get the current season until it comes out on DVD. I just DVRed the Walking Dead marathon this past weekend because Season 1 is all that is available on NetFlix. If the shows listed are important to the OP he may not be able to cut the cable just yet. Also, Comcast owns a big stake in Hulu now and they've talked about only making it available to people that already have cable.

Ok I see breaking bad and the walking dead what about the rest of the shows? Does anyone know from experience what type of selection of shows these two companies offer, or is their content strictly what they advertise on the site?

I don't think HuluPlus has anything you can't browse from Hulu.com HuluPlus only content usually just has a + logo next to it. Instantwatcher.com is a good place to see what is available on NetFlix.

it should be what they advertise. There's no reason for them to hide any content they have from potential subscribers...

I dropped cable and only have Netflix with AppleTV and XBOX. None of the shows from Netflix will be current, HULU I have no idea.
Any individual show I want I buy it for the season from iTunes or XBOX Xune Marketplace. Still come out way ahead on cost.
We bought Season 2 of Walking Dead when the season was starting and will do the same with Season 3.
Diners Drive-ins and Dives was cancelled anyway I thought? You're just watching reruns on cable.

Are you talking about CURRENT seasons...or, just past seasons of shows not on Netflix?

Current seasons.
You can buy Season 3 of Walking Dead before the season for example and when the episode airs on live TV, it shows up to watch or download on your iTunes download list about 3 hours later.
If you have AppleTV you can just watch without downloading. Same for any show.
We bought season 2 of Walking Dead on our Apple TV for $30 before the season started and watched every episode.

Awesome. Thanks.
That is one of the reasons I've hesitated. I did not know that was the case

And honestly I think bout the same thing happens from the XBOX Xune Marketplace deal. But we've only purchased shows through the AppleTV iTunes Store.
AppleTV has about every show I've ever looked for...unlike a HULU+.
