Hard to say, but the context is confusing, like they were talking about a certain style offensive guy wouldn't be good, not steele, but its hard to decifer.

I'm assuming because Steele's D gave up 600 yards and 70 points in their last outing has something to do with it. Bad fit on a team that goes fast pace such as Clemson.

I take it as LSU is already very good and that this is a step UP for Steele...not one for LSU.

in other words, it is not BAD for LSU...just that the main benefit is to him.

Says WVU's offense was not an offense that Clemson was comfortable in defending. Obviously.

Have no idea.

Are people under the assumption that he would actually be doing more than helping break down film?

People keep throwing out how good a recruiter he is, how terrible his defenses were, how combustible he is. It doesn't matter. He's a glorified grad assistant. He can't recruit off campus, and likely can't recruit on campus. He won't be coaching a position. He won't have final say over anything. He's just an experienced set of eyeballs to give a new angle to the defensive staff.

He's not here to scheme, I hope.
That would mean Chief is looking.

Seems like a great addition. DC experience, recruiting, been all over. The guy isn't our DC, not sure why his DC performance in the last bowl game has any affect on LSU. I seem to recall beating WVU on the road by a pretty significant margin.

You posters that think he'll have no input whatsoever are dumb. Not that he will be making defensive call in the game, but an ex def coordinator isnt hired to do nothing. It's a good pickup by LSU.

I'll assume your post wasn't directed at me. Steele is a great addition to the staff.

Chief is not letting anybody meddle with his defense. I never said he'd be a fricking water boy and not contribute at all. He'll play his role, like Steve.

No one understands more what chief wants to do with LBs than Steele to think he will not benefit us is moronic

Guys, it will make virtually zero impact whether he is or isn't on LSU's staff this season. He's basically just a Grad Assistant. He is good buddies with Chavis and this is the Chief giving him a chance to see if he still has the heart for coaching. Will make virtually no difference on the upcoming seaso.

As far as Steele as a coach, idk how he hasn't been more successful. He's worked under Tom Osbourne, Dom Capers, Nick Saban and now Chavis.

He surely didn't soak anything up though cause he is miserable. Really nice guy though!
