A Defensive Coordinator isn't at Linbackers drill and Dline drill at the same time. A DC is only as good as his position coaches. A position coach works on technique and drills that will help with the scheme that the DC wants. A coach with the resume that Steele has isn't coming to LSU to "JUST BREAK DOWN FILM AND KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT".

I see you aren't familiar with the limits regarding how many coaches can be on the field during practices. Go read up on those and then let us know how you think Steele will fit into the equation.

Are people under the assumption that he would actually be doing more than helping break down film?

People keep throwing out how good a recruiter he is, how terrible his defenses were, how combustible he is. It doesn't matter. He's a glorified grad assistant. He can't recruit off campus, and likely can't recruit on campus. He won't be coaching a position. He won't have final say over anything. He's just an experienced set of eyeballs to give a new angle to the defensive staff.
This. Also, LSU is giving him an opportunity to teach his son about coaching. I think it's awesome.

Bs. You don't make an nfl coaching staff as a linebackers coach by sucking at coaching linebackers.

It's posts like these that make me smh. You do realize there are bad coaches right? Coaching, especially at the college and pro levels, is one of the tightest most difficult professions to get into. They pretty much recycle the same coaches, even the shitty ones.

Chief's got this. It doesnt matter how inept of a coordinator Steele is, I am not worried.

Chavis knows exactly what and how he wants to do things. This Steele thing is much to do about nothing.

You are right. He will not be breaking down film.

He came to Chavis to learn from him, it will be a one way valve...he is going to stay out of the way and observe and try to salvage career.

If Lunda Wells & Wilkerson could be on the field at practice & Lunda could help recruit on-campus then I see zero reason why Steele can't.

They held positions that are covered under the limits. Random interns are not. If they were, you'd see a certain school a couple states over with 25 interns helping coach on the field during practice.
