I have aa 2wd f250 for starters. had to take it on a muddy road and got near stuck. On the way out i hear a squeaking noise coming from the front passengers side. I washed out the mud/ gravel and the noise has only gotten worse.
Any ideas?

Rock in the brake pad? Rocks and sand can get in some hard to find places. Unless you think you damaged something.

I had that in mind, but the weird thing is that it comes and goes, and it doesn't make any noise above 35 mph or so.
I did go in and out some dryish ruts sort of hard in my efforts to not get stuck.
ETA: before i pressure washed the brake/wheel area, i could push on the truck and it would squeak

Squeaks are hard to trace. I would check the brakes for starters.
I think there has got to be something stuck in the brakes or shocks making noise.
Good luck. Mud riding always tears shite up. But it's fun.

Indeed they are, I'll poke around some more tomorrow before inevitably bringing it in.
Yeah screw mud riding, I always tear something up when i end up in the mud somehow so i try to avoid it, especially in a 2wd.
thanks for the help.

Last time I went mud riding. Got stuck bad in a 4wd diesel. Two months later tranny went out. Maybe coincidence but probably not.

Rock in the brakes would be a squeel. Noises are pretty hard to describe sometimes. A video would be best. I would probably say you have dirt in some of the joints. It happened to me all of the time when I had my Tacoma. It was always the rear leafs though. Could be dirt up in one of the body mounts. It just gets everywhere. It should go away after a while. If you bring it to a shop and it is just dirt, they will laugh all the way to the bank.
FYI, you will never be able to get all of the mud out. I could spend 5-6hrs cleaning the undercarriage and still pick some out after.

Damn thats terrible. i blew a fuse that controls the instrument cluster and the gas pedal because i shifted back and forth a lot trying to get out.
It would be fair to say that them diesels don't like mud.

The worst part about them on a muddy crowned-over road is the turbo lag. It is hard to blip the throttle in a diesel
