Nah Clint was in the last year of his contract. Downing is still an England international, which seems to immediately make his value at least £5m.

I honestly think Downing would be a good player at a lower level EPL club... £7-8 sounds right, but then again we way overpaid for him... he was maybe worth £12-14 coming off his season with AV..

Agreed. He puts in a good cross which is what matters. He could probably be a 10 assist/5 goal player in a traditional English style. His skillset has become worthless at Liverpool since we try to play through the middle now.

For a second there I thought Suarez would have sent it over the goal, but he displayed amazing control to come back to get that one! Excellent strike!

The Henderson sub was a stroke of brilliance. We've been calling for him all year and we finally got it. The defense has been magnificent.

Yep. I love Suso, and I think he has a great future ahead of him, but he is just too hot/cold for me right now. It's clear to me that he is not ready to be an everyday starter like how Rodgers has been using him. Especially not when we have solid experience guys who can contribute and bring stability on to the pitch. Like Hendo.

Can I just say Jose Enrique is the bomb and "I told you so". Jose Enrique reminds me of Luis Garcia (albeit physically he's 4 times Garcia) in how he can produce moments of sheer brilliance and then frick it up massively at the same time.
Henderson was Gerrard-esque at times. He should have really put away that chance. It would have given him a great boost of confidence.
However I didn't think Suso was particularly poor. His substitution was purely tactical felt. Wigan were doing a good job of marking Suarez in the first half. BR countered that brilliantly by putting Henderson in and letting him control the midfield. It moved up Gerrard into the hole behind Suarez and let Sterling push further up giving the attack more teeth. With more players forward it freed up Suarez and the rest followed.

Hopefully, this is Enrique shaking off the rust from the injury that has kept him out for so long... When he is in form, he is great...

He also didnt give the ball away today like he tends to do... a lot

Just a little more... So pleased with Rodgers and his philosophy and in-match tactics... I think he just may be here a long time...

He's definitely has not fallen prey to the stubbornness that brought down AVB at Chelski...

He did, although I don't think it was anything intentional. But this is the second time I've seen him do that recently. He's got to stop that shite.

I have admittedly been very down on Enrique due to his recent form. He was utterly atrocious in the first half again, barely completing 50% of his passes. He was a new man in the second half. Hopefully that form continues because he had a huge impact on the match.

When was it? I missed the first 10 minutes of the second half so I'm assuming it was in that time span. Anyone have a link?
