Exact reason we are rolling on SF. A lot of small guilds are rolling there.
Yeah, here's the list a guildmate put together:

quote:

Anvil Rock (4chan?)
Blackgate
Borlis Pass
Crystal Desert (Ascension Alliance) <-- serious fricking business
Darkhaven (4chan? Karma Alliance)
Ehmry Bay
Fort Aspenwood (Penny Arcade)
Gate of Madness (Neogaf + Titan Alliance)
Henge of Denravi (BRAZILIANS HERE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS)
Isle of Janthir (Reddit's GW1 guild)
Jade Quarry
Magoonnma (Goon Squad? + Starfleet Dental)
Sanctum of Rall (3400 man guild here, move along)
Sea of Sorrows (Unofficial Oceanic server)
Sorrow's Furnace (lots of guilds)
Stormbluff Isle
Tarnished Coast (Unofficial RP server)
Yak's Bend (GW2Guru + Yogscast + GiantBomb)

SF has been mentioned before, hopefully that's where we go. For me, I will mostly WvW I'm pretty sure. Some sPVP and little to no PvE if possible lol.

After three weekends, I narrowed it down to Ranger and Mesmer as my favorite classes. You can put me down for Sylvari, also.

Did we decide on WarS for our updated guild tag? That's what I put in last time, but I didn't see you around. You missed a hilarious, but horrible... but hilarious final hour this last time around. "Hunger Royale" needs a ton of work if it's going to be an effective PvP game type.

If you're going to be more focused on the PvP side of things, I might start coordinating runs on the dungeon and "raid" content. Of course, anyone more competent is welcome to take the reigns. I exude leadership qualities, but Guild Wars 2 is a different game than I am used to.

If I turn out to be just as lost as everyone else, I'll demote myself to helping other people level.

Has it been decided what we are going to use for voice chat?

Damn this game is a HUGE download.

Point #1: DON'T STAND AROUND. EVER.

The kinetic combat is truly the most thrilling part of this game, I think. Although sometimes I feel like weapon skills are a faceroll.

Guild Wars 2 may not demand that you be a master of keybinds (A maximum of 14 abilities is a refreshing simplification, especially if you remap the function key abilities to alt+#), but it does demand that you learn how to move. Don't play this shite if you can't circle strafe!

I could set up a Ventrilo or Teamspeak server. We had a Vent server in SWTOR, but I haven't seen the host here in a long time and I have no idea if he is even planning to play this game.

Yeah I wanted to avoid most of the major game sites, they can get way annoying.

Nice. I'll probably start all 5 from the get go (Guardian, Engineer, Thief, Necro, and one undecided), so we'll have a good spread.

Yes WarS should be the tag. Yeah sorry I missed it, I was travelling to Colorado that weekened. Vacation. Sorry! I was completely bummed I missed it too.

THis is probably a good split just to keep things active and flowing. Don't worry, I'll be PvEing, quite a bit, but I do want us to organize for PvP. And I was having a blast in WvWvW. I can see that being where I spend most of my time.

I'm still in. My plans for the first weekend may be changing so I just might be glued to my pc that weekend.

Do we get an early start date for preorders?

I also repeat:

GET ON SORROW"S FURNACE NO MATTER WHAT.

If the server is TOO packed, or it seems that way, make your character anyway, then you can guest on ANY OTHER SERVER for PvE at any time.

I'd say this is a good idea.

Does that cost anything?

I'd also like some sort of schedule/scheduling website.

I'd like to stay organized when and where we do things (but not completely structured) as that will be important for our small guild deploying our guild XP effectively.

Having "WvWvW Night," "PvE Night," etc.

Thoughts? Concerns?

No. All you need is the server client and a static IP. Anyone can do it - people with routers need to port forward.

Absolutely. There are quite a few "guild portals" that provide easy-to-use templates for a site like this. You want information pages, a schedule, a newsfeed, a page where people can apply, or a forum, you can do it.

Now, as far as which guild hosting networks are the best, I have no idea. I'd be glad to do some research and correspond with you via email to find the best fit.

I think it's imperative for a small guild to have some sort of predictable weekly (or at worst monthly) activity. You want to provide incentive for people to get online other than to play solo or hope that maybe someone else is willing to party. So, having weekly [activity] nights seems like a good idea. Ideally, we would have specific goals in mind for each PvE night, or series thereof, but it wouldn't hurt just to tackle world events if we can't think of anything else to do.

My only concern, and anyone else can voice a contrary opinion to this, is that splitting our weeks into nights for PvP and PvE may leave us with fewer people for both. I'm not saying it always worked effectively, but in SWTOR I simply had a "Guild Play Night" where people could decide amongst themselves what they wanted to do, provided we didn't have bigger plans in mind. We would have a party of people doing PvP warzones while four more of us ran a flashpoint. I have a long history with tabletop games, so I know how hard it is to coordinate people for one night a week, much less two.

If it's not too hard, yeah, that would be good.

What if we did a Read-Only Google doc linked in this thread?

I've done those websites before and they never become active. Just my two cents. I'd rather people playing then spending time on a discussion board.

Plus we all spend too much time on TD as it is right? And we have this thread for any large discussions.

Agreed.

Types:

Dungeons
Heart Clears
Craft Hunting

?

I actually hated the Norn starter zone, but would love to kill it with a group doing the hearts.

Good idea. I think though, that Guild Play Night, is just about any night right?

Maybe one night a week dedicated to PvP and PvE and the other night or two for Guild Play Nights?

There is one other danger here too...belonging to multiple guilds.

Yes, I was going to say something about guild portals largely being a waste of time unless you have a massive guild, or one that has specific joining requirements (like an RP guild), but my post was already long. A google doc sounds simple and practical for our purposes.

These are all good ideas. I don't really have anything to add on that note at the moment.

The spirit animal theme made for a real slog. So far, my favorite starting areas are Queensdale and the Sylvari's Caledon Forest. The latter is always going to raise the spectres of Teldrassil, Darkshore, and Ashenvale, but that can't be helped.

You ideally want people doing guild activities every night, sure. I'm just saying that it's sometimes hard to do, even with a guild of about 20 people. Players manage to log on at entirely different times and completely miss each other. Of course, Guild Wars 2 is a much better game than SWTOR, but people are still busy.

We'll try a two or three night per week model at launch and see if it works out. No point in adjusting to problems before they manifest.

I had forgotten this. I'm not planning to be draconian about members playing with other guilds. At the same time, if you have people on the roster who always group with other people and only use the TD guild as a social outlet, it could get quite obnoxious. I'll have to think about what action, if any, might be necessary in that case.

This kind of meta discussion we're having might be better suited for gmail, though.

I've literally never heard of this game until this weekend. I get the sense that it is casual-friendly...am I right? I played WOW/BC for a few years (EQ for many years before that), but had to stop once I didn't have the time to commit to raiding, etc. I've been playing D3, but am getting kind of bored now in Inferno. Is GW2 the type of game where you could play for an hour or two every night?

I'm definitely considering purchasing gw2. I remember play the first guild wars and loved it. Then I heard about WoW and that sent me on a downward spiral since 04

It's exactly that type of game.

Casual friendly, with enough of the best parts of other games to be varied and challenging. WvWvW is the spiritual successor to RvRvR from DaOC.

Through the Guild Levels and Boosts, 1 hour a day can make a lot of progress.

AND The experience to gain a level from 11-12 is the same all the way to 80. Content is also always relevant for your progress.
