So I'm in my early 30's and decided that I want to do more fishing. I think I would enjoy saltwater fishing more than freshwater. The problem is that I'm not ready to sink $20k into a boat. So, where can I go to do some fishing and learn the basics? Any good places in the Slidell area??

They have that new fishing pier by the causeway. I've never been but my buddy has with his girlfriend said its okay. You could also try the pier in madisonville. Both are salt water. If you don't want to buy a boat I would suggest learning in a pond doing some bass fishing. What kind of reels you like, and what times to use different baits. Good luck

Maybe go on a guided trip and see if you like saltwater fishing. But would probably start in a stocked pond or something first like somebody else said.

Almost have to have a boat to saltwater fish. I started with a 1448 alweld with a 40 merc. It doesn't take much of a boat to fish the marshes. Rods, reels and a tackle box cost me more than that Boat.

This time of the year all you need to do is drive down to the coast and fish in the surf.

I start my week off Tuesday, going to have to make a trip or 5 this week.

You going for some snapper. My dad has a recipe for that, I will slap a mf for him to cook it again.

Our last trip

Plan is to hunt for specks in the morning and then head out to try for Snapper. The offshore part will be a bit of an experiment. If we have time after that then maybe try for some reds on the way back in.

Who- we are going to have to hook up and run to the reefs out here. Some friends of mine filled a 90qt ice chest with 40 trout, all on top water.

Man it's been a while since I've been able to get on a good topwater bite. Topwater action is the best and that must have been some mules to fill up that size ice chest.

I'd love to hook up for a trip. Not sure how likely with our schedules. I throw a trip together whenever I possibly can. I try to always post on here when I have a trip scheduled. One of these days it'll line up and we can meet up on the water somewhere.

September and October I will be working 4 on 10 off so we can get one then for sure.

The water is getting right down here so things should be great as long as we don't get any storms.

Im only 1 1/2 hours from br, so the trip should be easy.
