Sad to hear. I'm too young to remember him play, but I did recently learn about who he was from his grandson who I work with. My prayers are with their family.

That's very sad. I remember watching him play. He was a very tough player and a great Tiger.

RIP Sammy.

RIP Sammy.

Weird. Was just talking about last Tiger to return a KOR for a TD before Eric Martin in '81.
And I think it was him at Tennessee in mid 60's.
Incredible move faked a couple of Vols out of their jocks.

Sammy was a classmate of mine. Just a regular Joe who happened to be a football player and run track. Unassuming guy from New Roads. Very fast for his day (mid'60's). Rest in peace, my friend.

Sammy was a great man and a great tiger. 66 is just way too young. RIP Sammy, hopefully you can bring us some kickoff return TD's this year.

I believe Sammy played in maybe Charlie Mac's greatest victory, the Bowl game against an undefeated Arkansas team.
