Mr. Baseball in Louisiana

Anyone familiar with the player who was Mr. Baseball in Louisiana this year? I believe Cechni is his name? I notice he signed with Ole Miss although he was drafted 1st round. Just asking.. anyone know why LSU didn't get him? He is from Lake Charles.

LSU wasn't interested in someone who never actually intended to come here so they used their resources on someone who did. He used Ole Miss as leverage

That was part of it. Also, coaching staff had a falling out with the family after the way his older brother handled being drafted and eventually signing for less than he told the LSU coaches he would sign for.

Would it be that hard for the NCAA to move the signing deadline for college one week after the MLB's deadline. That still gives the newly signed kids a month to get to campus and heck, the season still wouldn't begin until February. It absurd that colleges have to play the waiting game with the pros

We backed off of him because it was obvious he wasn't interested in going to college. Ole Miss took his commitment because they are ole miss and like moral victories. He's gonna sign MLB.
