I don't know anything about soccer. So maybe he or another soccer player is. I have no idea though

In the world it is definitely Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the US, Lebron is definitely the biggest IMO.

Defends how you define biggest.
If by endorsements, you have to throw Mickelson in there. At least in terms of US.
Worldwide, probably Messi or Rooney given the popularity of football that you actually play with your feet.

Biggest as in a combination of most talked about, most visible, jersey sales, endorsements, etc

Messi...
If you're outside of the US the only one close would be Ronaldo.
Jordan, Woods, and Beckham are up there but if you're talking about right now Messi and Ronaldo get headlines everywhere in my opinion. Google trends is a pretty good site to gauge this as well.

Lebron.
Europe & hispanic nations are the only ones that care about soccer

I agree

As of April 2012, Forbes had Jimmy Johnson first. Tebow, Manning brothers, Brees and Rodgers all ahead of Lebron. FWIW

C.Ronaldo or Messi
These guys help each other out because the constant conversation is which one is better. People usually like Messi and love/hate Ronaldo. It is a big deal.

No way. In basketball alone, Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose jerseys sell better internationally than Lebron's.
