I was talking to a buddy who plays there a good bit, and he claimed that it's 10 strokes harder than just about any other course around lafayette or baton rouge.

From the tips, it's 10 shots harder than any muni in Lafayette. Not LT or the Farm

Bring him to the tips of Uclub and we'll talk.

I've never played it but I've been. It's definitely out of my difficulty level.

UClub tips is a different animal. Guys an idiot if he thinks it's 10 shots harder than that. But it's a tough golf course.

Atchafalaya tips aren't a joke either. 7533 yards.

It is definitely a difficult course. May not be ten strokes harder but it is much harder than any muni course around. LATriomphe is equally as hard from the tips if the wind is blowing, but not without the wind. Oakbourne is an awesome course to play if you get a chance. Be careful with the speed on the greens. They are a lot faster than any other greens in the area.

It's not an easy course by any means. The fairways are a lot tighter than most other courses around with a good amount of trees that can affect your drive on the majority of holes. But claiming it's 10 strokes harder than any other course in Laf or Baton Rouge is just plain ignorant.

I'll have to check it out. he said 200$ if i break 90, and if i dont i have to pay for his beer at walkons after. seems like a fair deal.

What is your handicap? If it is above 13 or above and you never played it before, you probably are going to have to buy the beer. Wish you luck though.

My thoughts too. Especially if you're playing it down, i.e. not taking relief from the roots you are certainly to find. But it's worth the challenge, not much risk for you TH.

i would say a couple under 13. i havent done an official handicap this year yet, but i'm a few better than i was last fall, which was a 14.

ETA: i play a lot better when i have a challenge (i.e. be better than 90 for 200$)

worst case, i have to spend 50$ on beer instead of my typical 25$.

Oakbourne is without a doubt the toughest course in the area. Tight fairways and quick greens. First time on the course will make this a very difficult challenge for you. Let us know what you think and what you shoot.

I don't think it's a difficult course, especially if you play smart. The greens can be pretty quick and the 18 hole is an awful finishing hole.
