The two Neville athletes are also good friends off the field, making it easy for Jones to take advice from Diarse, as well as learn about the recruiting process.

"He calms me down so I won't get nervous," Jones said. "He talks to me like a mentor even though he's older than me. He treats me like a little brother."

Hope John stays close and can help Hottie through this process. Not saying he should push him to LSU, but I hope it helps that a good friend is already in the fold.

Proud of them as well as all of the Louisiana kids for being there. Hope they have fun and do real well too.

If you read the rest of the article, you will see where the newspaper referred to Jones as Taylor. Who the frick is this Taylor cat?

He probably is used to having mentors that are his age or younger.

It says Diarse and Jones are two of SIX Louisiana boys being invited. With Fournette being the only other junior.

That's three, anybody know who the other three from the boot are?

Pretty sure the other three from Louisiana are josh boute(sp?), desean smith, and Ricky Jefferson.

I thought the kid from Karr was one of the six

Edit:

The roster is on the bottom of the page at the link.

I may have missed someone but it appears that Neville and South Panola (Batesville, MS) are the only schools with more than one selection. Nice.

I don't know if anybody remembers me posting here talking about Hootie to Ohio State, but the same source that told me about Diarse commitment and Hootie to Ohio recently informed me that view is fading away and LSU is the clear leader. He spoke with Hootie last week.

Thanks tigerbru.

I have been hoping it does not turn into an Eric Reid - Landon Collins scenario. I still think LC spurned LSU in part because he wanted to get out of ER's shadow.

Our 2014 group could end up better(on paper) than USC's this year. If Jones(5*),Paris(5*), Brown(4*) and Simmons(4*) commit and we can get another 4* or 2 also, it'll be close. I'd take Jones and Paris over anyone that USC can land aside from maybe Willis. Maybe even him. I love Cravens but he'll end up at LB eventually.

It will be interesting to see what Hootie measures out at at the Rivals event. Neville's basketball program had him at 6'3" 215 this past season.

Much more growth and he'll end up a monster safety like USC's Taylor Mays was a few years back

That's great to hear. He and John need to get in the ears of Cameron Robinson, Fournette, Willis, Brumfield, Noil, Jacory Washington, Cameron Simms, Davon Godchaux, Quinn, Donovan Isom, Malachi Dupre and a few other in-state guys I am probably leaving out to get them on board with Hootie for next year's MONSTER class.
