lebron doesnt remind me much of pippen. at all.

How not? Super athletic wing player that's incredible defensively, a strong passer, has good court vision and is great around the rim. Pippen was an okay 3pt shooter. Pippen was an amazing all around player. I've long considered LeBron to be Pippen 2.0. Just a hybrid of great talents.

That '94 Bulls team without Jordan won 55 games in regular season and could have made another Finals run if a few things had went there way in that Knicks series.

Pippen was an amazing player. The problem is people nowadays use it as a slight to LeBron with the deferring bullshite. That's the problem with it. Pippen filled a role that he needed to fill, but when Jordan wasn't there he was fully capable of being the #1 guy on a really good team. In my opinion it's no slight to call LeBron Pippen 2.0.

i agree.

tbh...i could have left that part out based off of his play in this year's playoffs. killer mentality was def shown game 6 in boston.

and would rather defer to the player with more of a killer mentality.

See this is where I differ. I think this is just stupid. LeBron is about making the right play. If the right play is passing to the open teammate that's what he's going to do at the end of the game. Plenty of all-time greats have done the same. LeBron has taken and made plenty of game winning shots throughout his career. He's also passed plenty of game winning shots. Making the correct basketball play isn't deferring. If it is, then Jordan deferred in some of the biggest moments of his career.

um, lebron defends 4-5 positions, pippen defended 2-3.

lebron is stronger and taller so he is able to play and defend inside, pippen could not (he defended inside much differently)

lebron is a better passer, so he is able to run the point, pipper could not.

lebron is more like magic johnson and even then its not a great comparison.

so no, i dont see pippen in lebron at all; lebron isnt like any of the players from the past. he is a hybrid of many.

terrible article.

i dont see it as a slight at all, but their games are not even close to resembling each other besides being exceptional athletes.

they scored, rebounded, defended in much different ways.

they dont even defend the same. in those few clips pippen was using his long arms and quickness while lebron uses his leverage and strength.

mind=nuked at this comparison.

I can see what he is saying, but Pippen is "Pippen lite" compared to Lebron if you are going to make that comparison. Lebron plays Pippen's style of game only better.

That's because you're being far too literal with your interpretation. To you unless the two players are exactly the same there is no comparison. That's a weird way to look at it in my opinion.

LeBron and Magic is a far worse comparison because Magic didn't even know what defense looked like for the most part.

This isn't really news, Phil tired Kobe as a distributor as early as 2000. Just trying to start the MSB Kobe/LeBron war again.

being that type of player has it's pro's and con's, as we've seen with his 4th quarter criticism this last year.

He is not Jordan or Bryant or Johnson, and that's OK.

i think before this becomes a 20+ page thread with a few noteables from the MSB going at it, they need to re-read this part of the article. then let it go.

I'd imagine he's talking about their type of player; not talking about how good they are.

I'd hope you, me, and anyone that is reasonable can see that there can be an argument made for LeBron being a better player than Kobe. (not talking about rings and career accomplishments)

Yes, especially when Kobe was paired with dominant big men. He wanted him to be a creator.
