Tell Me What You Think

Guys,
I know I don't post much on this board at all but I read it daily/hourly. I love the hornets and the fact that we're going to get one of the best players to come out of college in a long time. Also, the fact that we're basically playing with house money at pick #10. There is a lot of speculation as to what to do with the tenth pick..whether to trade it or whom to pick. My thoughts: I feel like its either going to be PJ3, Rivers or Sullinger (assuming Lillard doesn't fall to us whom EVERYONE would be ok with taking). Say we take PJ3 at 10, teach him to play the 3 knowing he can also play the 4 (he did so in college, not to his full potential however). THEN we trade JJ AND Ariza for a late first or early second round pick and draft Scott Machado? He led the NCAA in assists at just under 10/game and has a very good knowledge of finding guys in the open and distributing the ball. Kinda like Marshall but didn't play on as big of a stage.
Machado/Vasquez
EG10/Henry
Pj3/Aminu
Davis/?
Oak/Smith
Now you're really young across the board and basically pretty cheap for a while. Don't you think we could then attract a solid free agent to come play here and grow with our young guys? And look, if we take Rivers at 10 I'm happy with that too...I just don't want it to discourage EG10 from signing long term with us because I think he's awesome at his full potential.
I'm not exactly sure how the Ariza/Jack trade would work money wise for the other team involved but whether we do it this year or next, we NEED a point guard. And yes, Jack is very formidable but we also have to pay him after next season (probably not cheap) so we need to decide if that's who we want to go forward with.
I hope this isn't a terrible thread idea bc i know how some of you guys get angry at some of the threads started. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated and if its a dumb idea..my bad fellas!

You won't have to trade both of them for a late first or early second. Machado should be a 2nd, so all they have to do is buy the pick or give up future 2nds.

PJ3, Davis, and Smith will be a big lineup. I like the idea but JJ is good enough. He is average to above average and thats all we need when we have a star SG and superstar PF. Vasquez will be starter if we do get rid of Jack and pick up Machado.

I gotchya, didn't know that about second round picks..well it seems like that would make this situation even better seeing as we may even get to keep one or both of those players for another year..all the while grooming Machado to one day be the starter. Thanks!

Good point. And say Vasquez has a solid year he could then even be used as future trade bait in the future if need be.

my question is what position will PJIII be playing. Is he quick enough for the SF position?
I'm looking at this draft as more of a matchup draft.
We start trading and it can make us vulnerable against certain teams. Ariza is one of better defenders and will guard guys like Bryant and Durant. So if you trade him, we would need a defense stopper to matchup against them.
Thats just an example of what i'm trying to say, but we need to be aware of matchups in our conference.

Eventually I think you could go PJIII/Aminu/Davis frontcourt and matchup accordingly. Crazy length and athleticism.

think Aminu could step in this year and play quality bball? I'm assuming you are trading Ariza?

I think Aminu can play given more minutes. But seeing as the rest of our team will be somewhat young, now would be the time to see if he can be a starter in this league. Remember he was very young coming out of college and was the 8th pick in that years draft, he's definitely still developing. Not to mention if he pans out, we've got a starting 3 at a bargain. We'd be in business.
Machado
EG
Aminu
PJ3
Davis
