From the article:

Analysis: We've had Jared Sullinger here the past few weeks. But just as he was working out in New Orleans, NBA team doctors were reviewing the physicals from the NBA draft combine. As we reported on Monday, Sullinger's physical had a number of team docs skittish.

If Sullinger isn't the guy, there is no obvious direction for the Hornets to go next. You could make the case for a dozen players. So why Rivers? He checks off a lot of boxes (perimeter scorer, shooter, star quality) that the Hornets are looking for and gives them some insurance should Eric Gordon get too expensive as a restricted free agent this summer.

Lol I seriously hope no one actually pays for ESPN Insider. Seems like he just randomly changes up the order each week.

What's with the ?

That actually makes a lot of sense. I am leaning towards Meyers Leonard if Lillard and Drummond are off the board, but I wouldn't be shocked if they picked Rivers.

The pick very well could be Rivers, but I wouldn't overreact to Sullinger's medical red flag just yet. Apparently this happens more often than we think and this is probably a leak by a team that wants Sullinger- maybe even the Hornets...

Obviously we have no idea what the report says, we'll just have to see if and how far Sullinger falls. Most mocks have him in the mid to late lottery.

If Waiters and Lillard are off the board then I hope Rivers is the pick.

BPA. You get guys that can play the game and want to get better. You'll find a place for guys like that.

I think rivers will be one of the best players from this draft if he gets stronger at the next level. He can shoot the rock and hardly anyone can handle the rock like him. He just needs to become a better finisher.

I think we should just use the pick to get Rudy Gay and start enjoying the playoffs ASAP.

Starting lineups with MinnTiger's ratings (scale of 10)
Jack (6.5)
Gordon (8.5)
Gay (8.5)
Davis (7.5 - for now)
Okafor (7.0)

Fairly deep bench - that's at least a 6 seed right out of the gates and probably as good as a 2 or 3 seed within a couple of years (assuming AD develops as expected). Plus Okafor's expiring next season could be turned into a "win now" PG or a center of the future.

Benson is 85 years old and wants to win now. I'd be surprised if we don't make a bold move that takes a lot of NBA guys by surprise.

But not every big move is a good move. I just don't see paying over 25% of the cap on a player who was 3rd best on a middling playoff team.

Demps is 42 years old and wants to win eventually. I would be surprised if we make a bold move that takes a lot of NBA guys by surprise.

Agree with all this.

I really don't want us to take Sullinger at 10. Undersized big that plays below the rim.

Okay, how about a player who has never earned an All-Star appearance?

Gay's Value

quote:

If there is one thing Rudy Gay's performance has demonstrated throughout his career, it is that he is neither a franchise player nor even a player who can be counted on to be the second-best player on a championship-caliber team.

OAK is a good center in this league, what he's being paid is maybe a lil overpaid but there's not really talented center maybe except for howard.Oak is underrated imo

Definitely overpaid, but you are going to have a really hard time finding a replacement.
