I'm warming to the idea of taking Drummond at 10. Obviously, that's conditional on him falling to us but hear me out. Drummond is obviously a project. However, around the NBA, Monty is known for developing young talent especially post players. Plus, I think playing with Davis(an extremely hard worker and humble guy) every day is a great developmental environment rather than the shite hole that UConn was this season.
If we pick Drummond, I think we struggle next season and possibly don't make the playoffs. This would hopefully land us a draft pick in the 8-12 range allowing us to pick either a scoring/shooting SF to pair with EG or a point guard of the future. Plus, we would go into the 2013 season with a huge trade chip in the expiring contract of Okafor which would hopefully allow us to pick up another player at the deadline.

Future Lineups:
2012
PG- Jack/Vasquez
SG- EG/Henry
SF-Ariza/Aminu
PF- Davis/Ayon/Smith
C-Okafor/Drummond/Smith

2013
PG- Jack/Vasquez/(Possible 2013 Lottery Pick)
SG- EG/Henry
SF- Ariza/Aminu/ (Possible 2013 Lottery Pick)
PF- Davis/Ayon/Smith
C- Drummond/ Okafor/Smith

With possible trades of Ariza and Oak to pick up other pieces, I think that sets us up extremely well for the future with lots of cap room going into the 2013 free agency. There are a bunch of great pickups we could make in free agency that would set this team up to compete for a top 4 seed in 2014 and championships in the following 3 years. Obviously, if both Drummond and Davis develop that would give us a dominant 4 and 5. To pair with the scoring of EG and a couple of other players...

Thoughts?

Drummond won't be available at 10. If he is, it may be worth looking into if Monty wants a project on his hands

That's cool and all but we don't need no projects. I would rather someone who proved their worth on the court rather take a gamble who didn't show anything.

Sometimes projects work out. Case and point.. Russell Westbrook was not a prolific scorer at UCLA. Most considered him a defensive minded point guard and therefore considered him a bit of a project on the offensive side of the ball. Look at him now.. And even if Drummond doesn't turn into an absolutely dominant center, which he no doubt has the potential to do, he could still be a solid contributor and still would not set back the rebuilding process. You have to take him just based on the fact that he could very well be the next Dwight Howard.

I'm glad you're warming up to him, too bad we'll have no shot at him at 10.

i dont want drummond to fall to 10 cause that would be a hard decision to draft him or not draft him. I would rather rivers cause a backcourt of Rivers and Gordon could be a sick young backcourt with another young star in AD

If Drummond's grandma was 7'0" tall and still available at the 10th pick, teams would consider her...

if he lasts past the 5th pick, i'd be surprised.

Lillard and Drummond are not going to be there at 10.

Let's move on from them shall we?

ya, Lillard and Drummond are gonna be gone...If Monty really likes Rivers and Moultrie, we should consider trying to trade back with Houston if they are interested.

If I was Charlette I would NOT pick Drummond. They do not need a bust.

But if for some reason he is, I would not hate picking him here. #10 offers a little bit of an opportunity to take a gamble bc there are certainly no guarantees at that point in the draft.

Having said that, I would rather us use that pick in order to get some point production. A player like Lillard or Rivers, or possible trade, is what I would be more comfortable with.

With all the buzz surrounding Drummond in the last few weeks, I can't imagine he drops to 10. But he would be tough to pass up because of his raw talent.

Frankly, I think there's a better than 50/50 chance that Demps deals the pick in some way.
