I remember the first post you started about it you said that the standing o was fine, but you started to back track and say that the victory lap was not okay. Which is it?

I wonder how the players felt about seeing the fans high five the other team after they stuck the knife into LSU's bid for Omaha?

My guess is it hurt. The LSU players probably thought it should be them doing the victory lap.

The sad truth is SB played better than we did.

As many ,if not more posts have insinuated that if someone DID stay and congratulate Stony Brook they are weak, not competitive 'not a real LSU fan'.

I'm not sure I would agree with this about any single person......as a group of people who knows...not enough data to evaluate the situation.

And whether you agree or not, a winning game which sends a team to Omaha does mean more than a February game.

no it doesnt. its sportsmanship. each game should be the same. when you teach your kids about displaying proper sportsmanship do you break it down into specific categories? is the first game of the season any less important than the last game? because going by your rules on the matter it would have been ok for me to throw piss balloons at app state because it was just a game in february as long as i cheered for stony brook in june.

They probably thought about everything they could've done different to win. And then realized that our boxtards were giving a victory lap for the opponent, which then cued up feelings of "WTF?"

No,I said I understood some people's point about not wanting to have stayed or applauded.

Regardless for the life of me I don't why this bother so many people. Some othe LSU fans cheered Stony Brook and their lives have been miserable since 10:15 Sunday night.

I don't think Dottie dropped it on purpose at the end of A League of Their Own. Then again, I don't really understand baseball.

A case could be made that the raw hatred emotion for another instituion of higher learning and its athletic teams is a bit classless.....but I digress.

I mean, good for SB but damn. A victory lap on my home field in front of the fans is a bit much.

Again, good for SB, but please get the hell off my field

It bothers people for basically the same reason that made this board blow up after we lost in the BCSNC....we lost to a better team (although the football game had some more undertones of we didn't play well but I contend the baseball series was still pretty close to that as well).

you misremembered. I never had a problem with the victory lap. I just stated that I wouldn't have stayed to cheer them. But I have no problem with those who did.

It would probably be a bad bet to bet against it.....personally I'm interested to see if they can hold UCLA to under 7 runs myself.

I have a bet with someone that Stony Brook plays 3 games or less in Omaha.

The whole point of the "initial " thread was the great publicity LSU got from a complete stranger, one who, as an employee of ESPN, is in position to spread the good pub all over the country. I just don't see any harm in the words LSU & class being associated with each other, & in this case, it is beneficial to us. Yet, as usual, the thread got hijacked by those who have been spewing the same message all wk now. A great article & I am glad for all the positives bout LSU behind it.
