Who here is actually thinking about going? I've got 4-5 guys who are 100% down right now. I need to get on the bandwagon and join the AO fan club

AO travel package is full. I don't think they are going to do a 4th plane. All 3 are full. FWIW.

I have been mulling it over since the last WC, and have a few friends who are not rock solid, but fairly committed on going.
How tough is it to get tickets to the matches though? All these major tournaments seem to have plenty of empty seats it looks like, so maybe they don't give out close to the full allotment of tickets.

Yea, I saw that. I had two separate thoughts, just sort of combined them. I would probably go down there on my own. My friend has family in a couple different cities down there so we'd probably be able to check it out. I am going to have to start thinking about it soon...hopefully the US makes it

Have a group of about 10-12 guys and girls seriously thinking about going. We have a friend from rio and his family still lives there so we would only have to pay for a plane ticket and tickets to games.

It depends on my school schedule, I want to go but honestly I am perfectly fine going to some of the Hex games next summer (Azteca trip, anyone?) and catching the WC at a bar

Well I'm in my mid-20's, single, working steadily with summers off (holla at being a coach/teacher), so I figure now is the time to go before I have a family...well if I ever have a family. 2018 would be difficult and 2022 I'd rather stub my toe really really hard than go to friken Qatar or however the hell you spell that tiny place in the desert.

I was discussing this with a group of friends. If it were 4 years ago I might. But considering Mexico's current strength I'm going to say no to this one.

FWIW we should use this or something similar as an official planning thread for the trip. I got a "guy." Been trading emails with some dude who lives outside of Rio who said his dad is renting out a room at their house for a pretty reasonable price (300 greenbacks/wk). Seems legitimate.

Meh. Getting shanked in Brazil just doesn't appeal to me. But I want to go to a World Cup so bad.
