I said the same thing yesterday, but came to my senses when I realized how ridiculous that must have sounded.

They're just too good to be the Mets.

I am well aware of their location. The Mets suck. Yankees just swept them. There is a better alternative.

Oh, and

But I hear you. They were just a good solid team; hitting, pitching and defense.

Here is a theory I heard from my brother yesterday. He thinks that SB has a Div. III football team. That = no scholarships. The limits on baseball scholarships were generated by Title IX issues to compensate for 85 male football players with no balance to females since they don't have football teams.

So, if SB doesn't give scholarships for football, they are excused from the baseball limit as long as it equals the number of softball scholarships to girls.

Don't know if this is the case, but I do know that the military academies are not limited in football because their scholarships are not for football. IE, Navy can dress out 200 football players even though they are all on full scholarships.

their football is definitely FCS and i wouldn't go ahead and call the Stony Brook defense particularly good based on these three games

Nah, we have division 1aa football and either way the scholarships limits are the same no matter what. Stony Brook has been one of the best northeast baseball schools for a couple years now. Stony Brook tuition is also about as reasonable as you can find anywhere in the country which is a huge + in a limited scholarship sport like baseball. I said it yesterday in another thread, but we have kids on our roster who have turned down acc schools to come to Stony Brook.
