Monty and the rest of the FO love him (Captain) and his contract is great for the production he is giving us and is expiring. He was our vocal leader last year and kept this young, inexperienced team in check for the most part.

Please stop with all the trade scenarios involving him.

Which, IMO, is why we should strongly consider moving Jack. He's 29, coming off a career year with a very good contract. His value will never be higher.

About what ? You not wanting to trade Jack ? I get that. I think that we should explore all possibilities.

No. You're triple post inside one post. You edited it.

he is a good guy and a solid player, but he is over-valued on here

Where did that come from?

I would gladly flip him for parts but it isn't gonna happen.

he had a pretty good year last year no doubt, but if we can move him with our eyes to the future, they'd do it in a heartbeat.

True.

Meh. Not by most. I think the real point is that he's more than serviceable and there are other needs to be met with the #10 pick and/or trades and/or free agency.

For what? Most people seem to want to trade him for the sake of trading him. He was never that athletic a player, so it's not like he's going to go to absolute shite as he gets a bit older. He could be a solid, reasonably cheap option to keep around as we hope to enter what we expect to be our prime (i.e. 2 years from now when Gordon is at his peak and Davis starts putting it together). Are we that sure Vasquez (whom I like) can be a starter in the future?

You just started a thread about how valuable he is and why we wouldn't trade him. You can't turn around and say you'd be happy to trade him but we wouldn't be able to.

Yes I can and I just did.

It would have to be really good parts mind you, because he is a very valuable vet for a young team in transition mode.

I think if you are able to move him for a mid-late first then you have to do it. Especially if Lillard is the pick at 10.

if he has another year like this past year, he wont be affordable for what we are trying to do.

trade him for what?

a player and a pick for next years draft? some type of package to add another pick in this draft?

I don't know for sure. But he's not untouchable. In the end he'll be expiring and someone we wont likely bring back.

What is really good parts ? A player and a future pick ? A current pick ?

He is valuable to a team like ours, but I think he would be extremely valuable to a team like Denver. Karl loves to play 2 PGs at the same time. I think Miller said earlier that he wants to go a team that will allow him to start. JJ to Denver makes a lot of sense to me.

A trade exception and the 20th pick for JJ ? Awfully Tempting.
