Outdoor championships start today and go through Saturday. Both our women and men have a chance at winning although the women have a better chance.

Thus far, LSU has qualified for the finals in both the women's and men's 4x1. Rachel Laurent is pole vaulting right now and Damar Forbes and Kyron Blaise are long jumping. In order for the men to have a shot, they need big points in the long jump.

Is this the pre-cursor to the annual Skip sucks for letting Pat go to A&M thread?

That is huge, especially when you consider Texas A&M's guy ran faster and did not get in. Root against A&M, Florida St, Florida. Rooting against Texas, Arizona, and Indiana won't hurt either.

Our long jumpers are in 2nd and 6th place with 3 rounds left. That would be a big 11 points if they can hang on to those.

Haha, we'll see. Shaver has his teams in position to win a national title on the girls and guys side. He has a much better chance than A&M, or anyone else for that matter, has this year.

It's been a long time since LSU won a national championship in any sport...it's been what, two years? Miserable!

LSU holds on for 2nd and 6th in long jump and Florida gets shut out. That is 11 points for the men. They are right where they need to be to give themselves a chance. Of course, they'll need Barrett to come up big in an incredibly tough 110h field as he is our only big point individual left.

yes he had the slowest qualifying time but read the progession rules. fastest 2 in each qualify heats then next 2 best times. all about how you compete in your heat and then your next best time. not just about your final time guys, more about the time in your heat to get to the next round.

the scoring in all the sprint events have been extremely fast this year compared to years past. probably should have gotten one guy in the 400 final but 45.3 not making it to the NCAA finals is sick.

So far so good as far as scoring goes. Scoring better than projected so far. top 3 or 4 in men's and hopefully champs on the women's if we keep it going

The girls are in a GREAT position right now. Man, I hope Duncan somehow comes back. They'd bring home #27 and 28.

Forget that.... men are winning this.... Nugent just got in with the 4th fastest hurdle time. Aaron Earnest continued his incredible weekend with another final qualification in the 200.

Florida did poorly in the javelin earlier today. A&M failed to get one of their 2 200 guys through. Florida St's decathlete who was favorited is going to get beat by a couple of people. Everything is falling in to place. Florida has a guy high jumping right now. Keeping an eye on that.

On the men's side, Florida St's decathlete fell to 4th. Florida's high jumper did well and got 3rd. LSU's 4x4 had the second fastest time in the nation this year in the prelims getting second to only Penn St. That was without their fastest guy who has been dealing with an injury recently. We will have to wait and see if he is able to run in the finals. The meet is looking like it may come down to the 4x4.

The girls got their hurdler through as well as the fastest 4x4 and fastest and second fastest 200 girls to the final. They look to be in great position. Oregon and maybe Kansas are the only real threats for them.
