Not the best duo, but Williams and Stewart are at worst a top 5 duo, and I'd put them in the top 3.

I agree. They had a huge comeback year last year. Williams is 29 though and it will be interesting to see if he hits the wall in the next year or two.

Yeah the Panthers were a night and day team last year. They were so much more successful when they ran the ball than when they had Newton throw the ball. People get lost in all those passing yards, but fail to realize that they best formula for success was the ground and pound - which is what made Auburn so successful in 2010.

Newton really opened things up for them and helped Williams and Stewart. When you throw Newton in there that might be the most dangerous rushing attack overall. I'm interested to see how people defend them next year after watching more film on it.

He should be good for another decade. I mean they gave him the ball 9 fricking times a game. Gotta let Cammy Cam throw it around and vulture TD runs. Sell them jerseys!!!!

Why would you pay Williams that much money and then barely give him the ball?

They couldn't run it really. Newton had to throw.

Williams averaged 5.4 YPC, his career average is 5.1. They could run. They chose to highlight Cam.

Yes they could. They had the third best rushing attack in the league last year.

They struggled to run the ball early.

Week 1 they had 74 total yards, 27 carries.
Week 2 they had 71 yards, 21 carries.
Week 3 they had 107 yards, 28 carries.
Week 4 is when they took off.

IMO, when defenses had to respect the ability of Newton to pass is what gave their run game life.

The reason why they had so many passing yards early was because they were getting down in games and were throwing so damn much. In their 10 losses, Newton threw a total of 372 passes for a 37.2 average. In their 6 wins, he threw a total of 145 passes for a average of 24.16.

Pretty telling stat.

shite I forgot that the Chiefs picked up Hillis. This is your answer right here. Perfect compliments to each other.

I'd say Foster/Tate are number number two by the closest of margins and Williams/Stewart are nipping on their heels at the 3rd best duo.

There are literally 5 backs on NE's roster that are better than him.
