8'x12' wooden shed like the ones sold at Home Depot. I need to move it straight back about 15-20 feet. It's on two runners sitting on a few cement squares.

I was thinking of emptying the shed, using a floor jack and putting some steel pipes or wooden posts under the shed and pushing with a truck to roll the shed on the pipes/posts backwards on the grass.

Any other suggestions without renting any fork lifts, other machinery, etc.?

You have the steel pipe already? It not, that might be more expensive than renting a 5k skytrak or warehouse forklift an plus those are way more fun than doing it Egyptian style rolling it on pipe.

Cut the runners at a 45 and pull it. Hook up a pully system if you don't have enough room to pull it. We moved a 20x40 barn with a 40ho tractor pulling on skids.

As long as the yard is dry I would think that you could roll it or if you have enough room, pull it with a truck...

Get some rednecks together with beer, chains and a truck. It will come together eventually.

Maybe get a coupla sheets of old 3/4" plywood split longways into 2'x8's, should slide without any probs...

With how small the shed is, it shouldn't take too much unless its muddy

Mud will make it a challenge.

Don't have the pipe. Runners are already cut at a 45. I think I may just try to slide it on plywood pushing with my truck. I guess I'll have to put some cushion on the bumper not to scratch it since I can't pull the shed bc of the location.

Years ago I helped my dad move a shed in his yard of similar size. We tried the rolling on steel pipe idea. It did not work for us. Given the shed was old and beer was involved. The Egyptians had better success than we did.

Pulling is easier than pushing when it comes to sheds. Helps get the skids up on plane.

Yeah I know, but given the location of the shed, I can't get behind it to pull.

Used a couple of large pieces of large diameter PVC to move one that was similar size before. Unloaded it first, and then pushed it about 100 feet. We were even able to turn it in about 90 degrees.

No trees behind it to hook up a couple of comealongs?

4" schedule 40 PVC will do just fine and is plenty strong enough. With 12 foot long I would think 6-8 pieces should be plenty. Jack up the leading edge and insert a few pieces.

I would use a basic pully around a tree or a post driven in the ground (telephone pole buried 4 ft or so or a heavy steel pipe)to pull it forward. Drill through the two skids for attachment points for your rope. Once it is on the pipe it won't take much to move it. Go slowly!

Good luck.
