Have seen a billboard on 20 in east Texas for an Heberts Speciality Meats (I think?)--any reviews on that place?

Thank you, good people.

The only Hebert's Specialty Meats in LA that I know of is in Maurice outside of Laffy. I go there quite often. I googled specialty meats in Pineville and a place called Guillory's popped up on Hwy 28 East, not North. Might be what the other poster is referencing.

Mr. PBeard--do you happen to know if they sell it fresh or even frozen? Would like to get a quantity to take home in an ice chest.

Hard to tell from Yelp if they are more than a restaurant. Will definitely stop and try some for lunch soon.

They sell it fresh, steamed in a slow cooker or whatever those things are.

If you're looking for frozen, Porky's may have it, but I've never bought it like that. The fresh should stay good until you get home.

If you NEED frozen, I'd go with something along I-10. Best Stop or Don's

Don's has frozen, pre-packaged in 5# boxes. Just picked some up Sunday on my way home from Austin. They also have a lunch counter where you can get some Boujdin or a smoked Brisket po-boy or Boudin Balls to tide you over until you get home.

Thanks, all.

Unfortunately, I won't get south of Alexandria. No don's/best stop for me. Though if I'm in Lafayette, it's Nunu's for me.

Going to swing by Guillory's and grab some boudin and other smoked meats. Will report back next week.

Cheers!

Sorry, it is Guillory's in Pineville that has great boudin. We had just had the boneless chicken stuffed with shrimp from Heberts and the name stuck in my head. We like both. Stuffed pork chops from Guillory's are very good too.

If you're in Lafayette, Johnson's Bouceniere is closer to Lafayette than Nunu's
